Utah governor signs collective bargaining ban for teachers, firefighters and police unions

The Money a person earns is measured as a unit of time.

A Doctor makes more than a Teacher. Because his or her time is worth more. And before we start talking about edumucashun..... A Plumber makes more than a Teacher because his time is worth more. So does an Electrician. So do most Tradesmen.

This all goes out the window when we get into Sports and Entertainment. That is a Market Based evaluation and it makes no sense to man nor beast.

As an example, it takes Generic Motors very little more time (measured in Man-Hours) to make a Pickup than it does to make a Corvette. The materials are quite close in cost as well

But a Corvette costs nearly twice as much. Why? Because they can get it. A Market-Based principle. What the Market will bear. Corvettes are few and far between and they are meant to show a lifestyle but are pretty much useless otherwise. Shiny. Like a Silver and Diamond Bracelet. But relatively useless. Or, in the cases of shiny, completely useless.

You go down the Automobile line-up just a bit and those Cars like the Ford Escape, the Rav4, Nissan, Honda C- whatever ......

Those are "Cost-Based" vehicles. The vast overwhelming majority are. Ford, Honda, GM, Toy-Odor etc know exactly how much it costs to make those vehicles, to the penny, and they price them accordingly. They need to make xx% profit or they'll lose money.

You and I are also Cost-Based. I can't sing or dance and I can't run faster than light or dunk a B-Ball from Half-Court and while I am stunningly handsome If I do say so myself :) ), I can't act and I don't play well with others. Not much of a Stand-Up Comedian either, but I have been known to try depending on the amount of alcohol I've consumed.

I suspect that fairly describes you as well, more or less.

Point being, if someone wants to make money, Teaching is not the path to choose. If Teachers didn't know that going in, then they are too stupid to be allowed around children. Which, to be honest, most of them are anyway.

So if they, or you, wants more money. Here's a thought. Try a profession that pays more. But be forewarned, they often require this thing called 'production'. Something the Teaching profession has no clue about.
Who is going to teach? Women who didn't graduate from high school teaching elementary school classes like in the private schools in Florida?

That depends on what the age is tbh.
I mean, ideally all should be college educated and have a teacher's certificate..but..hear me out now..

If they're educating kids way under their level with a specified curriculum, what difference does it make?
PS: I hope Head Start is nuked from orbit.
THAT has always been a government indoctrination program. Americans do not need that to be free, at all.

In Florida, we have the best educational system in the Country. Period. And we pay our Teachers the least. Go figure :dunno: (while you're at it, look at Utah)

Meanwhile, Home School kids consistently score higher -- On Public School Tests..... Than do Public School kids.

All the edumucashun establishment in this Country is, is a Tax Funded Baby-Sitting service. Period. Parents don't complain about Johnny's (lack of) edumucashun nearly as much as they complain about Johnny not being in School. Some schools down here sign kids up for all Summer Classes and Parents jump on it with glee. It's a baby-sitting system. Period. The parents that can afford it, go back up North in the Summer or send Johnny to Camp or to Europe. During the School year, the worst thing that can happen to a kid is forcing his Mother (or Father, if he knows who it is) to pick him up from school. It's a ******* Baby Sitting system. Day Care absent crayons..... After the first couple years, anyway (they get their crayons back if they join the Marines :) )

Everybody knows it's a free baby-sitting service. Everybody.

THE most expensive Day Care on the Planet.

The “right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” protects two distinct rights: assembly and petition.

The right isn't going to be happy until they completely gut the Constitution.
No one forces people to become teachers, police or firefighters.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah's Republican governor on Friday signed a collective bargaining ban that experts are calling one of the most restrictive labor laws in the country, despite overwhelming opposition from union members.

Beginning July 1, unions serving Utah teachers, firefighters, police officers, transit workers and other public employees will be banned from negotiating on their behalf for better wages and working conditions.

Gov. Spencer Cox announced his decision Friday evening following a week of rallies outside his office in which thousands of union members from the public and private sector urged him to veto the bill. The Republican-controlled Legislature had narrowly approved it last week after its sponsors abandoned a proposed compromise that would have removed the outright ban.

Government workers don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money.

When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers.

F.D.R. considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.” .... At least one thing I agreed with him on.
Democracy is dying, and this is just one more example, one more nail in the coffin, the time has come to resist the oligarchy...

where did these people get this warped idea from?

I keep forgetting we are talking about the US who have a history of bashing workers and Unions, most Unions in the UK won't tolerate that shit.

You don't mind is someone who is functionally illiterate is teaching kids to read? Your mileage may vary!

Are all homeschooled kids required to take the same tests as public school students? If not, that data is meaningless. It's like homeschooler testing on the ACT and SAT. Those are optional, so dumb kids never take them.
