It boggles my mind how Mr. Tinmore and his detractors are able to have this useless, ongoing debate, day after day, year after year, about whether Israel really exists. An abstract, philisophical so-called "debate" that serves no real purpose. If only my relatives in Israel knew about this, they would laugh their heads off!

One thing I believe everyone has picked up from this, and that is never to argue with an Arab (even with facts) because it would be a waste of time. I admire Rocco for having the patience that he has shown here.

People who don't accept facts or do, then conveniently forget them, are basically crying out for attention. Their lives may be empty and conversing on the net is all they have. Like a child who only gets attention when she or he has done something negative, but gets no attention when behaving well. It would pay some people to step away from the computer and go out in the real world.

What I can't understand is the level of racism that Americans show vis-a-vis "Arabs".

Have you experienced any racism by Americans? If so, why not tell us about it. In my area there are plenty of mosques, Islamic Centers and Islamic schools, and I don't see any of the Muslims living here being harassed. All the people seem to get along with one another.

I happen to be of European stock and Roman Catholic. If you don't see the racism in this statement:
"never to argue with an Arab (even with facts) because it would be a waste of time" replace the word Arab with Jew.

The started this debate after finishing the one about whether the earth is round or not.

Who cares what stock you are? You come on here and think you know it all. You haven't seen all the detailed answers that Rocco has given Mr. Tinmore over and over and over for a very long time, and Mr. Tinmore goes on and on about this like Rocco is lying. Since Mr. Tinmore is a Hamas man and can't stand the Palestine Authority, maybe he can convince you to also join up with Hamas and their way of thinking.

ForeverYoung436, et al,

I would like to make two points here; having a couple days to think about it.

(COMMENT)

Clearly, as some of you would agree, we've had a number of recurring themes that have on the whole seemed frivolous and utterly without purpose; some even dominated by paradoxical thinking or circular logic. But having said that, there are two important concepts in play.

  • Both my daughters are of adult age, actually from two different generations. And each has a mind of their own. When the discuss the happenings in the Middle East, they have no real feel for the lay of the land. Besides the news, they really know little about the issues and the historical background on the origins of the Arab-Israeli Conflict. My concern is that they might hear one side of the argument, laced with pro-Arab interpretations of history, sprinkled with just enough fact and truth, that they would fall sympathetic to the image of a virtual Palestinian victim. And while it is important to realize that the Arab-Palestinian does have some legitimate grievances, claims, and complaints that need addressed (I'll be the first to admit that), much of the philosophical arguments they present are emotionally charged and utterly without foundation. And when I hear these slanted and tainted complaints, I see a need to challenge them every single time. Fore, without a sound and valid challenge some people will begin to absorb and side with them --- not knowing the other side of the coin.

  • Secondly, during my tenure as an adult, there have arose incidents which make me think twice about the wisdom of the solidarity and alliance that America has maintained with Israel. Sometimes I truly wonder if Israel is really such a special ally of America. But I also realize that nations makes mistakes. With that in the foreground, we've made a commitment to the idea of supporting and protecting the Jewish National Home, and the Jewish people as a culture to humanity. And without regard to the temporal mistakes that mans makes, it has become essential that the Jewish culture as a people and society, maybe different from our own, needs preserved. And in the face of that, whether it be the Palestinian Black Hand, the Arab Higher Committee, the Arab League and the associated chaos of the various Islamic Jihadist and Fedayeen, there is a need to stand up against the immoral decrees of genocide, terrorism and armed struggle that has historically been projected by the Arab people towards the Jewish. I am not going to be counted among the good men that did nothing or said nothing in the conflict.

No matter how many times I hear nonsense from the Palestinian and their attempt to use logic, morality and laws in their favor to justify war, hatred, and decent against the Jewish People, who followed the recommendations of the United Nations and created a country, a nation, and a coherent people, in a productive society, I will speak out against them.

The reason I made clear my background is that a poster, in response to my post assumed I was an Arab. I haven't read much of Mr. Tinmore nor Rocco, but I am sure it is the usual Christian/Muslim refrain that Europeans took their land without understanding that what is done is done and that Israel is not going away, while the other side wanks away with trying to justify ethnic cleansing and attempted genocide in the name of preserving the "Jewish Home".

Since there are so many fairytales on these forums about who one is, I can see people claiming that a poster is an Arab just from what they post. However, as a good Roman Catholic, surely your concern just isn't about the "Palestinians" but the Christians who are now being murdered wholesale in the Middle East because of their religious beliefs. By the way, do you have any problem with the Muslims who left the Arabian Peninsula when Islam orginated and invaded several countries which were the homes of the original Christians. The descendents of those who managed to survive this onslaught, can't even practice their Christian religion in peace, such as the Christian Copts.

Oh brother.....

Another poster who doesnt have a clue.

I imagine he hasn't seen a map of the Arab world with Israel being just a small dot among the huge Arab lands.

What does the plight of Christians outside of Palestine in other countries have to do with this thread? But, to your point, of course I believe that the members of the Christian and other religions when in the minority should not be discriminated against by those of the majority religion.

The actual Arabs were very few, the desert is not conducive to large populations. The Muslim "hordes" were mostly non-Arab Christian converts to Islam. The Arabs (from Arabia) were the officer corps.

It is very telling when a new poster right away comes to the Israel/Palestine board and goes into the usual spin when there are so many other forums that he could also be posting on. Isn't that strange when I viewed the Icons of the Holy Land, lent by St. Catherine's Church in the Sinai and which were being exhibited around the country, others viewing this exhibit were making the comment about there being no Arabs in these Icons, which of course they meant that when these Icons were painted, the Arab Muslims hordes hadn't left the Sauti Arabian Peninsula at that time. these Icons from the 2nd to the 4th centurth A.D. show how devout these early Christians were; and if you think that they just rolled over and converted to Islam, you really should have your head examined.

Converts to Islam? You mean Islam did not invade country after country, forcing the religion down people's throats at the point of the sword? Ha ha ha... Ya okay.

Thanks, now we know you're another Moooslem Arab posing as a Christian.

Who's next?

However they were converted, they were converted. The Arabs on the Arabian Peninsula were Jews and Christians and they outnumbered the "pagan" Arabs who were mostly nomads. Mohammed himself was from a Christian family and was probably baptized as an Orthodox Catholic. Many religions force conversion. The Spanish Catholics forced Jews and Muslims to convert to Christianity after the Riconquista, remember the Inquisition? What do you think that was all about? Do you believe the Aztecs, the Maya and the Inca were not forced to convert by the Europeans?

Islam was a new religion in Arabia. Mohammed might have been influenced by Jews and Christians, but you make it sound like Jews and Christians forced the pagan Arabs in Arabia to start a new religion called Islam.
