Now, they need to thoroughly research exactly where the money actually went. Just because it was listed as funds for the ridiculous programs, doesn't mean it didn't go into "individuals" bank accounts/pockets. Trace every damn dime.

That brings up a salient point that exceeds the boundaries of simple politics in regard to policy and party.
Listening to a few folks who understood the operations ... They were able to nail down where the fault occurred.

Of course, USAID had a lot of money flying around ... And likewise, a lot of it was directed into programs that favored the left.
At the same time USAID didn't have a 'black budget' ... Its budget was presented and voted on in Congress regularly.

The problem fell in the fact that after the budget was approved and voted on ... Congress never even conducted the proper oversight ...
And in a lot of the cases ... Very few people actually knew where the money went ...
Regardless of what crazy programs it had been allocated for.

It's not just that it was an unsupervised slush fund ... But a fricken entity acting on it its own volution without the proper oversight ...
And not in the least bit accountable for anything.

So ... When we look at Foreign Aid ... You have to ask yourself why we do it.
The USAID entity at the time ... Was supposedly using it to support certain agendas ...
To promote what they had decided was for the better of the world.

That's a problem ... Not because of the politics ... But the fact that the fundamental purpose of Foreign Aid ...
Is to use it as leverage in International negotiations ... Not a blank check for social policies.

I don't know if it is the perfect alternative ... And I don't know if the proper authorities will conduct the proper oversight ...
But I do believe that moving it under the umbrella of the State Department was a solid decision.
That's more aligned with what it was intended to provide for.
