US Seeks To Imprison Single Mother

I have read as much as you, and I disagree with your interp. I do believe what I posted in #230 above: she will be discharged.

I have no idea what you have or have not read. What I do know is you charged her with deployment evasion but failed to supply supporting evidence while also not addressing the facts that show she was not trying to avoid deployment. If she had never done a FCP and not taken her son to Cally and simply waited until the last minute then you could have speculation to work with.

Look at the bigger picture. The military waited two months to charge her. They couldn't give a 30 extension but they could wait 60 days to charge her? Why didn't they use that 60 day period to let her find another caregiver? Obviously keeping her away from her unit for two months didn't cause the end of the world. I don't remember seeing any reports from Afghanistan soldiers are in danger of starvation because the cook Spc Hutchinson was not there. If they had 60 days to wait charging her they also had 60 days to give her an extension.

The problem is you think the military has to CODDLE her and most of us DON'T. The military has ZERO obligation to give her a second or THIRD chance and even if the WANTED to how many THOUSANDS of soldiers are the supposed to "BEND" the rules for? You JOIN the military and you GIVE UP certain rights, sorry thats a FACT and if you don't want to then DON'T JOIN! I keep asking you if she INFORMED her superiors that she was having UNPROTECTED SEX!

If they give HER special treatment then I predict HUNDREDS of women will suddenly become pregnant and have their child care plans fall through.

Curvelight, you are dead wrong on this. Carefully reviewing this situation indicates clearly the soldier was gaming the system to avoid deployment. Court martial her, discharge her, deny all benefits to her, and let the military move on doing its mission without her.

You accuse her of sending her son to Cally as part of a game to avoid deployment. Why? What evidence exists to lay such an accusation on this Soldier? She was in the ROTC for three years prior to joining the Army right out of high-school. What evidence do you have that justifies the accusation she was lying when she asked for more time to find a replacement? She clearly stated she would deploy when a replacement was found but the military refused and then waited more than two months to charge her with crimes. It is disheartening to see this Soldier charged with so many accusations by people who have no evidence and don't know her at all.

Oh I see so SHE gets to TELL the military WHEN she will deploy!!! Why is SHE SOOOO SPECIAL?

She clearly was not going to deploy, curvelight. Personal knowledge of her is immaterial. The evidence clearly indicates she is derelict in following her orders. Alternatives were offered, she refused.

You keep offering that opinion with absolutely no supporting evidence. Why are you not addressing the facts the military approved her FCP, she flew her son to Cally, and when she learned it fell through all she asked for was an extension. You don't need a hundred percent of personal knowledge about her to make these accusations but you sure as hell need more than wild speculation.

Her MOTHER "fell through" yeah RIGHT!!! Would YOUR mother "fall through"?

When you try to defend your position you reveal the lack of respect for the facts. I don't think they should coddle her at all. I think they should have stuck to their word about the 30 day extension she was granted AFTER she found out her FCP fell through. If they had given her that extension and she failed to find a replacement I would agree she should be discharged.

(I sure as hope nobody makes the same false claim she was already given an extension. It's already been proven she was not given an extension after the FCP fell through. She had a FCP in place and followed through on it.)

That's a pretty silly response. The fact is her mother broke the commitment and stated why. I don't know my mother so I don't know if she would have or not. What else do you need to know about my personal life? Is it possible you could discuss the topic without always trying to make it personal?

Ah I see now why you are defending this woman. You never had your mother so you are weeping about THIS mother having to leave her son. Your bias is COMPLETELY explained by this post.

Why are you being so disingenuous? Is this hyperbole the only way to defend your draconian position? As soon as she found out she told her COC and they promised her an extension but the day before Unit deployment they reneged and told her she had 24 hours to find a caregiver.

Why don't you explain why they waited two months to charge her? Why couldn't they have used HALF that time frame to give her an extension?

Unless they are married, all female soldiers should have Norplant or some other implanted birth control. We are at war. These women have taken an oath to protect their country and are letting down their unit. There is no reason a single female soldier should be getting pregnant while on active duty.

If you had read earlier you would have seen I don't care what the relationship is to the child. You are using some of the shittiest possible psychology to do everything except respond to the facts. Here's a clue: you absolutely suck at mind reading so your best move is to discuss the facts. Which, btw, you ignored once again. This part of the board is showing itself to be overrun by posters who have more interest in anything but discussing the facts and information about a topic. I'm sure you will maintain that pattern in your response.

By that logic no soldier, male or female, should ever have intercourse. After all, if a Soldier fathers a child he can't be around to fulfill his duties to his country. Why don't you name the Bill and propose it to your Rep in DC? I look forward to seeing your response that says you agree nobody in the military should have intercourse. Short of getting "fixed" there is no contraception that is one hundred percent.

What this thread has shown so far is a lot of people really hate women.

So Curve does it "tell" you something when LIBERAL posters are taking the other side?

This is what I've seen so far:

1. Dishonesty regarding the fact she was never given an extension and the fact the military gave her one but reneged 24 hours prior to deployment.

2. Accusations that she and her attorney and mother are all liars. Those accusations have never been justified.

3. People accuse me of "bias" for no other reason than disagreement.

4. People hate women.

5. Ignoring the fact a married mother of two was ordered to deploy but refused and was never charged for disobeying the orders.

6. People are working very hard to ignore the facts by talking about anything else than the facts as we know them. This thread has been an eye opener in many ways.

We will see what the Article 5 hearing recommends. I suspect that she is going to be give a discharged under other than honorable conditions, which will affect any benefits to which she would be otherwise entitled.

I agree with Jake. Cut her loose and withold benefits. She did not earn them. When her country called she let her unit down
I concur.

Sometimes, you make sense.

Okay, the earth moved: RW, Proletarain, and I are in agreement. I don't want the woman in the military. We as a people will be better served with her out of it.

Are you trying to get in JD's pants.

By joining the military, you put your obligation to the armed forces and these united states above and before ANYTHING else. If you're not prepared to do that, don't sign up. She was not conscripted. she chose to incur an obligation to put her duty before anything and everything else when she was called upon. She chose to have a child. She chose her child over her duty. Discharge her and give her no benefits. She failed to meet the obligation to which she agreed.

First off. All male soldiers who get a female pregnant should have their pay garnished to pay for the child. They can have intercourse, as can female soldiers. But if a pregnancy results, both should be held responsible.
The number of unmarried female soldiers getting pregnant is not due to the statistical failure rate of birth control. They are either stupid or are intentionally getting pregnant.
It has nothing to do with hating women. It is an acknowledgement that all soldiers have a responsibility to their country and to their unit. When they let down their country and their unit because of irresponsible choices they should be accountable.
And this is from one of the most liberal posters on this board.

Not a bad attempt to dodge, but it was still a dodge. It takes much more than a cut of someone's paycheck to care for a child. Apparently you are okay with soldiers fathering children and then leaving them but that is not acceptable for women. That is an unabashed double standard.

Since you're too stupid the have got it the first time, I thought repetition might help hammer it through that thick skull of yours into whatever brain there might be inside.

This is not an anti-feminist rant.

She had an obligation to the U.S. military.

She has failed to meet her obligations, so she must go back into the cold, cruel world of recession.
