In the beginning there were quite a few Jews in the communist movement in Russia but they were soon shown the door.

That was partly because Jews made up a disproportionate percentage of Urban population, which was where the cultural and educational centers of the Country were.

In the first Supreme Soviet, there just weren't that many. Later on, after WWII, Jews were simply removed from any position of power.

I've read major articles on it and it turns out that Jews just din't have that much say in Soviet political circles. Very little in fact.
