US panel backs first-of-a-kind COVID-19 pill from Merck

If they can use the Z-PAK regimen for bronchitis or the common flu, they can easily develop one for COVID and all its variants.

Besides, 30% is better than dead, in my opinion. The pill isn't meant to be the be-all end-all. It should be combined with other treatments not named "vaccine."
Monoclonal ABs, early in the onset will take care of most cases before they become serious. The truth will come out at some point that the majority of these deaths could have been avoided but they weren't because they served a political purpose. THAT should be prosecuted as a crimes against humanity but it won't be.

No, it’s not ivermectin but ivermectin was developed by Merck after Satoshi Omura (Nobel Prize, Physiology/Medicine, 2015) discovered it in a golf course soil actinomycete in Japan. Molnupiravir began with mutation experiments in Siberia on E. coli. It may be carcinogenic, so you’ll find those that do not recommend it.

According to a new German study, the difference between a level of 18 and one over 50 is the difference between life and death. Why has this education not gotten out to the public, especially now that we are in the winter season, when there is essentially no natural vitamin D from sunlight above the 37th parallel? Or is the obfuscation by design

Top is link bottom paragraph is the meat. How many died needlessly because the press is lazy or are propagandists for hire.

Read the FDA report, it's the other way around. But of course the FDA approved it because heck what's better for the drug companies than a 500 dollar placebo?
Can you link the data? I’m not seeing anything that indicates what you say.

Hey..a treatment just for the unvaxxed! Works best if you have a mild to moderate illness--and if you are not pregnant~

A panel of U.S. health advisers on Tuesday narrowly backed a closely watched COVID-19 pill from Merck, setting the stage for a likely authorization of the first drug that Americans could take at home to treat the coronavirus.
The Food and Drug Administration panel voted 13-10 that the antiviral drug’s benefits outweigh its risks, including potential birth defects if used during pregnancy.
“I see this as an incredibly difficult decision with many more questions than answers,” said panel chair Dr. Lindsey Baden of Harvard Medical School, who voted in favor of the drug. He said FDA would have to carefully tailor the drug’s use for patients who stand to benefit most.
The recommendation came after hours of debate about the drug’s modest benefits and potential safety issues. Most experts backing the treatment stressed that it should not be used by anyone who is pregnant and called on FDA to recommend extra precautions before the drug is prescribed, such as pregnancy tests for women of child-bearing age.
The vote specifically backed the drug for adults with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who face the greatest risks, including older people and those with conditions like obesity and asthma. Most experts also said the drug shouldn’t be used in vaccinated people, who weren’t part of Merck’s research and haven’t been shown to benefit.
Barely. It has significant downsides and isn't all that effective.

Did anyone not see this coming?

Come on, covid is a multi billion dollar a year industry. It also gives people in control more power and scares people into giving up control.

Is anyone surprised those in power would do anything they could to give up money and power? No one is going to say "ok covid is fine now so stop taking our drugs and we will go back to being 3 billion dollars poorer".

If this pill was actually affordable, the vaccine/mask mandates would be pointless. Can't have that, can we?

So you're ready to take the experimental pill with dubious benefits, known bad side effects, and a barely passed emergency use recommendation instead of a vaccine with a proven track record of safety and efficacy plus full FDA approval because of your politics?

That's not a smart move.

It's never a smart move to let politics dictate your medical choices.
