More on topic. The US is obligated to investigate the Lion King killer for several reasons. One is the Travel Act which makes it illegal to travel to a foreign country and use a bribe to commit an illegal act. The payment made to the guide may be considered a bribe. Another is the Lacy Act which deals with endangered and threatened animals. The lion is not on either of those list, but information has been suggested that Palmer, the hunter being investigated, may have imported animal trophies from those list.
