US already had it's own version of Doc Martin, it was called Becker.
I can't see how FOX is gonna be able to capture Martin Clune's quirky easily disturbed grumpy essence and comedic style. He was good in that Driver Instructor sitcom as well. I can see a U.S. remake of that with car enthusiast Matt LeBlanc.

I just watched his new series where he is a widower farmer who has a drug cartel take over his neighbors farm with his help to cover up his son's involvement in a drug dealer's murder. It's okay. He is good. The story is a bit lacking. I will give it until after second season to decide.
