And like all the other resolutions it will be sent to the rubbish bin as unenforceable under current international law. If it does go ahead then the arab muslims will face a war they will lose and Israel will just claim the land as reparations. The UN will sit on the sidelines as a non UN member state destroys another non UN member state wondering why the US is not fighting the Jews for them, and instead fighting with Israel against the terrorists.

The rabid hatred of all things Israel is really something to see. I've had the same reaction to some of my more traditional looking Native American friends. People like yourself see someone different and rather than try and see another member of the circle all they feel is fear and hatred.

The Arab Muslims as a whole seem to feel the same as you do. Demanding ALL the mandated lands and screaming injustice if they don't get EVERYTHING they want.

But I guess with a 58 strong muslim country voting block in a group of what 180 or so countries they can generally get away with murder can't they.

The simple reality is that tyranny by majority is the norm at the UN not the exception, which is why we have a veto system in the first place.

With the proviso that the Palestinians have to get their act together within that time frame and elect and IMPLEMENT the proper leadership and government for those negotiations to happen.. Can you show me one statement from the current Israeli government or PM that even remotely suggest that Israel will consider a two state solution and drawing borders for these two states?

Israel withdrew EVERYTHING from Gaza.. And had a process going with the PA to normalize borders and trade. Cooperate on the airport and seaport. They don't WANT Gaza..They negotiated with ONE PARTY in good faith and ended up with a militarized Hamas within months. A Hamas that suddenly saw an opportunity to BECOME a political power and not just a "social justice" org..

Why did Egypt close it's borders at the same time simpleton??? Because once the land was returned to PALESTINIAN control -- it was more important for them to fight over who was gonna control it -- then it was to get done to normal peaceful state building tasks..

Stop being so disingenuous, Israel occupied Gaza to take control over natural gas resources along the coast. They achieved what they wanted, then sought to divide the West Bank and Gaza. You make it sounds like they owe you something for ending a military occupation of a very tiny portion of their land. Back to the point, no that's not what happened. Israel and the US called for Palestinian elections, which is what happened. Hamas won majority and was supposed to govern the West Bank and Gaza. They had representatives become part of the parliament. PA then got orders from Israel to throw them out. PA tried that, then used military means to make it happen. So Israel armed the PA, Jordan and Egypt were also preparing to put PA fighters into Gaza to topple the movement of Hamas. Hamas kicked their ass in less than a week's time. Then Israel besieged the whole area. Which it knew was going to happen, it wanted to isolate those two territories so it can dispel notion that it's possible to form independent Palestinian state.

Gaza having trade doesn't mean that the conflict would have ended. Israel lets the Palestinians in the West Bank do enough trade to sustain theirselves, and that's it. It won't pull out, it can threaten to collect PA's tax returns any moment which amount to 40% of it's budget. It controls everything and is expanding it's presence. It's a medium paced annexation. So we can talk about Gaza and whatever all you want, that stuff isn't important. What's important is the overall agenda of Israel. Which is to claim all Palestinian land as Jewish land.

And that makes it impossible to achieve a two state solution. If Israel wants total control, okay that's fine, why not make a one state solution? Make Palestinians your citizens. Oh that's right, Israel is a racist state which believes in Jewish supremacy.

How generous of you, another way of saying they won't be allowed to gain their independence. Israel won't agree to 1967 two state solution, it wants Jerusalem to be recognized as its capital, it has tens of thousands of settlements all over the West Bank. Will Israel be serious about a solution? Of course I can... Israel released Gaza TOTALLY to PA control before the PA crashed and burned along sectarian fracture lines. Palestinians BLEW the chance for Autonomy when JORDAN was in complete control of ALL the West Bank. The Palis got their asses tossed from Jordan for leading a tank march on Amman and trying to overthrow the King.. Israel withdrew EVERYTHING from Gaza.. And had a process going with the PA to normalize borders and trade. Cooperate on the airport and seaport. They don't WANT Gaza..They negotiated with ONE PARTY in good faith and ended up with a militarized Hamas within months. A Hamas that suddenly saw an opportunity to BECOME a political power and not just a "social justice" org..

Why did Egypt close it's borders at the same time simpleton??? Because once the land was returned to PALESTINIAN control -- it was more important for them to fight over who was gonna control it -- then it was to get done to normal peaceful state building tasks..

Stop being so disingenuous, Israel occupied Gaza to take control over natural gas resources along the coast. They achieved what they wanted, then sought to divide the West Bank and Gaza. You make it sounds like they owe you something for ending a military occupation of a very tiny portion of their land. Back to the point, no that's not what happened. Israel and the US called for Palestinian elections, which is what happened. Hamas won majority and was supposed to govern the West Bank and Gaza. They had representatives become part of the parliament. PA then got orders from Israel to throw them out. PA tried that, then used military means to make it happen. So Israel armed the PA, Jordan and Egypt were also preparing to put PA fighters into Gaza to topple the movement of Hamas. Hamas kicked their ass in less than a week's time. Then Israel besieged the whole area. Which it knew was going to happen, it wanted to isolate those two territories so it can dispel notion that it's possible to form independent Palestinian state.

It is disturbing to hear that president Obama is seriously thinking of supporting a UNSC resolution to create, delineate, and set a time frame for a two state solution to the Israeli-Arab-Palestine imbroglio by-passing direct negotiations. Unless another UNSC member vetoes the resolution it will put Israel in dire straits with sanctions looming in the future. It doesn't take much forethought to realize the resolution will mandate the 1967 green line as the defacto border meaning that all settlements will be in Palestinian territory. It is further stated that Obama will not move on this until after the election so as not to impact the Democrat candidate's chances. It is ironic that an American president with the middle name of Hussein would be the one to lead an effort to undermine Israel.

Thats actually not a bad idea, however if I were the Israeli's I'd insist that civilians and legitimate refugees be segregated from combatants exactly as specified in both the UN regulations and the Geneva Conventions and that those combatants be repatriated to wherever.

I can't see why Israel should be demanded to lend aid and land to enemy combatants when no other country ever has.

But given those conditions and that Jerusalem not be divided, I think this would work. Hell Israel has offered a near complete withdrawal from the disputed territories before, they might be willing to do it again.

I would also hesitate to allow a body with 1/3 muslim representation to hold the fate of Israel in its hands. The UN doesn't exactly have a stellar record of acting impartially. So I'm not sure what would need to be done to ensure impartiality.
