John Thune is the Senate majority leader and he’s been that since January. Why has he allowed this woman - appointed by Democrats - to hold her position?

There things that can pass without being filibustered and things that can't. Just the way it is.

This parliamentarian blows and I don't trust Thune.

I was highly concerned about this initially.

But the more I read, the less partisan she seems.

Apparently back in 2021 the same parliamentarian nixed language from the Dems as well regarding illegal immigration and other highly contentious issues.

The Squad (though House members) apparently went nuts. (I know, redundant - but you take my point.)

The current extractions are not necessarily a done deal.

There will be rewrites and resubmissions according to Thune and other Senators, in order to get the bill passed closer to its original form.

The bigger the bill, the more preliminary issues it is bound to have - and this is one big, beautiful bill!

Republicans can completely do away with the filibuster if they want.

Funny, Democrats were calling for that just a few months ago.

In fact, I seem to recall cries of "JIM CROW!!!"

Then the presidential election happened and a strange silence permeated their side of the aisle.

Why is that funny?

You might want to educate yourself about the Senate parliamentary rules regarding reconciliation bills.

This is far from the first time this sort of thing has happened.

Well, Thune just said to the press that he will not override the Parliamentarian, so this bill says we will still be paying for Illegals to have Medicaid.

There's nothing stopping them from voting on these issues in their own legislation.

What’s the rational for not challenging some Parliamentarian?

Is this a new toy the Dems to obstruct all things being tried by their political opponent? If so, I suggest we might be better off squashing it, now, before they manage to make it a “thing.”

I just read that apparently Vance doesn't have the authority to override this unelected woman.

There are rules that must be followed. The parliamentarian is nonpartisan. She doesn't make the rules, she just enforces them.
