Q1 of 2020 ended March 31st, 2020.

The first Covid death in the US didn't happen until Februrary 29th.

By March 31st, there were only 1500 Covid deaths in the US.

Bad, to be sure, but certainly not economy crushing if the economy were strong. Which it wasn't.
