Russia's strategy is easy to see. Putin is driving Zelensky to take any deal Trump has to offer. Russia wants the war to end just as much as anyone else, but they saw Zelensky's hesitation during his meeting in the White House. Therefore they're hoping the upcoming negotiations will bring some kind of an end to the war.
