Looks to me they should be paying folks to drive their trucks back to CA for them.

I'm assuming that the reason for the difference, no trucks to rent.

I worked for UHaul many, many years ago. Having areas run out of trucks was common. As was having areas with an overabundance of trucks.
 
If I were in California I would hide in someones trunk, hop a frieght train, or mail myself to anyplace other than California.
 
Pricing structure seems odd. Per these rates it seems there is a low demand for trucks in California and a high demand in South Carolina.


Um, econ wasn't a strong subject for you, was it.

LIved here in So Cal since graduating high school in Southern Illinois where the most expensive house in town is ~$300,000. Not planning on leaving.
One neighbor just sold his house for $1,500,000 cash. It's about like mine and
I paid my bank loan off years ago. So I got that goin' for me.......

More likely it is the franchises fees that are to blame here.
