With a media spotlight of sorts focused on the ongoing siege of Kobani (which has gone on for over two months now) less attention is diverted on a potential massacre in the making. Two Shia-majority villages northwest of Aleppo called Nubul and Zahra are under attack by the al-Nusra Front group who are seeking to establish their own caliphate. Given the 40,000 or so Shiite Muslims in those villages this could constitute a potential massacre in the making given what is known about such groups visceral disdain for the Shia,

Details. The Nusras were repelled. They also launched a 10-ton suicide attack and shelled the towns with rockets. The attack was supervised by a Turkish army officer who also died. The Army operates not far from there. In the towns, the Syrian National Defense Forces and the lcoals defend the towns. The towns are under siege for a long period now.
