Not sure 'we' armed the Chinese. Nixon opened up an inscrutable China to the rest of the world. The rise of Japans economy from an agrarian Emperor-lead nation to that of a technical superpower and democracy (thanks in no small part, ironically due to the Americans) is one of the great economic achievements in history.
America foolishly bet on the same occurring on China in exchange for cheap labour. They armed a Communist enemy who will stop at nothing to destroy America in particular.
The lesson here is you require an evolution of a nations principles BEFORE you make them wealthy and hand over your technical know-how.
We can only imagine how much some Japanese resent American corporate leaders and politicians for allowing the arming of China, a record growth in military and nukes while Japans military was forced to be blunted.
Side with nations who believe in free markets and liberty, NOT those who do not.
Japan is peaceful now and the Chinese would like them to stay that way.You don't think the Chinese are interested in the U.S?Not sure 'we' armed the Chinese. Nixon opened up an inscrutable China to the rest of the world.
It's a lot easier to Trade with 1.5 Billion People than it is to fight them.
I don't believe China is all that interested in the US. They've got their hands full with the Pacific Basin. The forces of Taiwan, S Korea (N Korea is a bad joke) and Japan are more than enough to keep China's leaders up at night. They want no part of the US right now. Probably never.
Historically, the Chinese haven't been all that expansionist. They usually like to keep to themselves but things do change and they don't like the Japanese. At all. The feelings are mutual. And if you've ever spent much time in that part of the world, you know that the Japanese take NO shit from Chinese. The Japanese are the badest dudes in that neighborhood. All of it. All of Asia. China's not sure they wanna mess with them ever again. 20 Million dead in WW2......Japan is peaceful now and the Chinese would like them to stay that way.
Economically, China isn't much different than European Nations back in the day. They play hard ball. So do we, so do Europeans, so does everybody when it comes to money.
The problem isn't China, the problem is the weak, stupid, unintelligent, over-educated dumbass scumbags that infest the dimocrap scum party.
When we have intelligent leadership, we do very well. When we have scumbag dimocrap thieving FILTH in Office, we don't. They **** up everything they touch. Everything.

Uniparty thinking and ignorant.
There are many factors that lead to Detroit’s demise. It’s hardly all the fault of the D Party.
Did you ever ask yourself why the R Party did nothing to stop or address it’s decline? The state of Michigan had several R governors since 1945.
Boy did this thread not age well
City announces $105 million budget surplus
11 straight years of financial stability.
Hey Republicans, Mike Duggan is an independent. If you like Trump maybe you should take a look at him for President.
City announces $105 million budget surplus | City of Detroit
Mayor Duggan announced the City of Detroit has a budget surplus of $105 million. Learn more here.detroitmi.gov
OMG what spin. Huge costs. He had to make a lot of tough decisions. But along the way, no politics. It costs a lot of money to bulldoze that many houses. You got to give him credit he got investors back to Detroit. Have you seen downtown Detroit? Fabulous. I put it up against any other major city in America. Beautiful. It's no mystery Detroit has a $105 million budget surplus since Mayor Duggan has been in office, seeing as Detroit went from a population of 1,849,568 in 2015 to the current population of 645,705. Almost two thirds of the people have abandoned the city, and it doesn't require near what it did to manage the shithole that is left.

You can say the rats moved out but the people who moved out moved away for the jobs. The people stayed have jobs. Lots of poverty no doubt, but he lost a lot of people who spend a lot of money too. Sure they didn't pay a lot of taxes but actually, the people who left did work. They do work. So they were paying taxes. You can nit pick, bicker, be petty, but this guy is not a Democrat or Republican.
When he ran as a Democrat, I complained he wasn't really a Democrat. You just couldn't win Detroit mayor as a Republican. But he didn't get in and be a dick like Trump or Rick Snyder or Mike Johnson. He's a straight down the middle, no nonsense no politics leader. Why are you against him? He could be exactly what you want Trump to be only not a guy who punishes one side to win favor with the other. He plays it down the middle. We need to stop the social wedge issues. Get a leader who just leads.
You are being petty to make light of that he has a surplus, he turned the city around from financial ruins. My how your spin has changed. 10 years ago what were you saying about Detroit? All the while this man has been cleaning it up.
He was a CEO of a Healthcare company. I am a liberal who doesn't like CEO's. Normally I'm against them. This guy is different. I actually trust him.
Interesting if I see Republicans attacking this guy. Why?
You're an idiot. Like you would have done any better. He got as much economic opportunity back to Detroit as he could. Which was a lot. You would have gotten more business' to move back to Detroit? Let me guess, by cleaning up the crime? Why don't Republicans run and win on this in Detroit then? They have. It doesn't work. No ones buying it.Oh, I did give him credit, for running the city into the ground, and two-thirds of the people (over a million) abandoning the city in less than a decade.

Our advice to Detroiters who said they couldn't get ahead was to get out of Detroit. Lots of economic opportunities in the burbs for people willing to work. So don't blame Duggan for this. Lots of blacks moved out of Detroit. But not before the whites did in the 70's and took the economic opportunities with them. My family was the last whites to leave Detroit. Your family moved first. Pussies.
I think he (Duggan) took over during the Bush Great Recession no? Right around there? He didn't run anything into the ground. You're just an idiot.
I lived in the D? Where you live?
Progs caused distress in Detroit and other areas. Including Republican ones. Privileged employment over non-Privileged has differences as we know. You're an idiot. Like you would have done any better. Well then maybe that IS the solution dumb ass. What happens to EVERY city when they get too big? Crime goes up. So who left? Good people who found jobs in the burbs? So Detroit lost a lot of good people. Are you suggesting they ran all their rats out? I don't think so. Some sure but I think overall Detroit lost when half their citizens moved out. You're just trying to find something negative. Petty really. The man has a $100 million surplus, crime is down and things are better.Listen dumbass, it has nothing to do with me.
It's not hard to reduce crime when two-thirds (over a million) of the people are no longer there. That happened under his watch, and he isn't a Republican. You cannot try to give him credit for absolute failure like it is some kind of success.
All your racial garbage, or trying to make shit personal, are the exact things than run anyone that doesn't want to put up with that absolute nonsense off. Keep pretending your entire ideology isn't a failure at its core.

You think it's his failure that a lot of people moved out of Detroit and he now has a thriving city? Wow.
I can find you positive articles explaining all the good that Duggan has done in the last 10 years. I won't bother. Do you have even one that explains what you are saying about Detroit? I didn't think so.
You should be able to find his opponent for Governor's criticism's of him. He's running as a independent for Governor and he's going to win. He's Trump only not corrupt. Why not support him? Is he not Republicany enough for you? Not MAGA enough? Doesn't play politics like you guys do? Stop it.
Merry Christmas dumb ass.
What state do you live in? Trying to figure out if Republicans are afraid of him on a national level. You should be. He good. Real good.
It's always a management problem, and managing the death of a city is no remarkable accomplishment.
Some have to pretend it is, others think the federal government can fix everything, and neither are correct.
Others move further away from the absolute garbage folks like you continue to beg for more of.
You don't have to try and find positive articles explaining how well Mayor Duggan has done, because more than a million people voted with their money and their feet during his tenure.
It's not about me, and it's about Mayor Duggan's failures and Detroit.
Have an awesome Christmas, because I know I will, and far from Detroit.
He managed the rebirth of the city.
Bush's Great Recession started in 2008. He ran and won mayor in 2012. The city was going to shit.
Now I see why you are afraid of him. He will win the black vote
Duggan received a bachelor's degree in 1980 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1983, both from the University of Michigan. He received national attention following his election in 2013, in part for being the first white mayor of the majority-black city. In 2020, he enjoyed an approval rating of over 68%, the highest approval rating of any mayor of Detroit.
You are afraid of this man running for President one day. Do you live in Michigan? If you are a Michigan Republican I see why you are afraid of this guy.
You got no articles, not even from his competitors. No hit pieces yet?
