From it's inception, I would respond to claims of the "information age" with the rejoinder that it was truly the disinformation age.

The very thing we call information has been bastardized.

Do you watch Fox News and get any actual information ? No. You get some stuff that is rolled up and made into propaganda. Same with PMSNBC and CNN. There are other entities that have recently come on line that are even worse.
