You still miss the point. The US will not financially profit from Venezuela's natural resources. Venezuela has always contracted foreign oil companies to manage its oil industry and now they will contract US oil companies to manage its oil industry. The oil companies are paid for their services but the oil still belongs to Venezuela. Oil is certainly not a reason to topple the Maduro dictatorship.

Similarly, the market value of rare earth minerals is not important to the US. Rare earth minerals are critical to the development of modern technology and China controls most of the world's supply of them, so it is essential for the US economy to secure access to the rest of the world's supply. I have no doubt that securing access to Venezuela's vast reserves of rare earth minerals was a strong motivating factor in Trump's decision to end the Maduro dictatorship.

Although Venezuela is not a major producer of cocaine or heroin, it is and has been a major transit hub for the flow of these drugs to the US and Europe and it has long been US policy to use the US military to interdict such shipments.
