LeshGee, those American spies like gangbang or fetish? Wow! I didn't expect that! lol.
The explicit topics discussed in the chatrooms:
Transgender surgeries: Discussions about male-to-female surgeries and gender-affirming treatments.
Polyamory and group sex: Conversations about multiple sexual partners and group sexual activities, including weekend "gangbangs."
Sexual fetishes: Topics such as urine fetishes and anal hair removal were discussed.
Sexual experiences: Personal accounts of sexual encounters and experiences related to gender transition procedures.

The intelligence officers violated basic rules and standards of workplace professionalism by engaging in discussions on sensitive and inappropriate topics, including polyamory, gender transition surgeries, and political matters, on a government chat platform managed by the NSA. These actions were deemed an "egregious violation of trust" by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, leading to their termination and the revocation of their security clearances. The specific rules violated likely include those related to maintaining professional conduct and avoiding misuse of government communication tools for personal or inappropriate discussions.

My question is …Why was it there? Also… who started it?
I can’t help feeling that there is more to this story

There is.
The previous DNI knew all about it and thought nothing of it.
It's either complicity or incompetence. Was probably too afraid of being called a bigot.
You didn’t even try to answer my question. There is. I'm sure there are FAR more than 100 employees doing this sort of thing. At every federal agency.
We're going to find them all, and fire them.

That's what happens when an executive branch runs on autopilot.
Why was the chat room on a government server on the first place? Why were they in a sex chat when they were supposed to be doing work to help secure our nation from foreign adversaries?
Why was the chat room on a government server on the first place?
That’s the real question
Thats a big ifIf these were sanctioned by management , the people using it should not be fired.
Read the NYT citation offered in the OP.Why was the chat room on a government server on the first place?
That’s the real question
Then THAT is the problem.Because this sort of thing was tolerated (encouraged) by the previous administration.
Thats a big if
Any manager who allowed it should at least be demoted
This just means the managers should be fired, too.If these were sanctioned by management , the people using it should not be fired.
The managers, like the DNI, were either complicit or incompetent.More than likely it was allowed because any manager that thought it was against the rules would be castigated by the trans mafia.
