It's a slippery slope to be issuing driver's licenses to people in the country illegally, but to be issuing CDLs takes it to a whole other level. Driving a big rig presents a risk in of itself. Throwing in the added challenges of not understanding all the rules or possibly the language on the signs heightens the dangers on the roadways. We've already seen a few accidents caused by truck drivers in the country illegally who were issued CDLs. Revoking these throughout the country should not be a controversial issue.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today exposed that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)’s review of Illinois’ non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) program found nearly 1-in-5 licenses to have been issued illegally. Illinois has 30 days to come into compliance and revoke the illegally issued licenses—or risk losing $128 million in federal highway funding.
