I used to live in Charlotte(Pineville). Hated it. My current location puts it to shame. We don’t live in the middle of nowhere, we just don’t live in a huge blue, high tax cesspool. And NYC is an absolute dump by comparison. Neat to visit, but talk about a downgrade in standard of living. Yikes.

People go where the jobs are and where the higher paying jobs are. Many are tricked into believing that making 300k/yr in NYC is better than making 150k/yr in a smaller town in TN, for example. They are willing to live in a shoebox just so they can hit the bars every night. Again, it is immaturity. Like I have said many times before, there is a reasson that the average 16-year old identifies as a Democrat. They are unwise and immature. Unfortunately, many of those, particularly those living in blue cities surrounded by other like minded lemmings, never grow up and out of it. This is exactly why NYC is about to elect a Socialists. Adults that have never matured beyond a naive 16-year old will elect him.

You cant trick the market. It is about value and it has been set over many years by millions of people. The customer is ALWAYS right and the customers are Americans picking to live in these cities. You can have your own opinion but it doesn’t reflect the market so you are wrong.

My town is actually not cheap, just cheap by NYC standards. Average income in my town is higher than in Charlotte. Higher income, coupled with lower taxes and lower housing cost = a better standard of living. We have nice amenities, including beautiful parks and are safer as well. Not to mention the traffic.

Charlotte traffic is a breeze compared to large cities. The uptown area and Southend and NODO likely blow away whatever cesspool you live in.

Yes ,any city of over eight million is going to have less desirable areas.
But New York has outstanding city planning, parks, recreation, culture, restaurants that are unmatched in the world
