Trump's nominee to replace the BLs DIrector he fired for publishing bad news has found a solution - don't publish anything. I guess thats one way to avoid getting fired.

Trump’s pick for BLS commissioner suggests suspending the monthly jobs report

EJ Antoni, nominated by President Donald Trump Monday to become the next commissioner for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, suggested that the agency should suspend its monthly jobs report, claiming it is unreliable and frequently overstated.

Antoni, in an interview with Fox Business News that took place before his nomination and was published Tuesday, said the BLS should instead publish quarterly data after it had been revised until BLS can ensure its monthly jobs data is more accurate.

“Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data,” he told Fox Business. “Major decision-makers from Wall Street to D.C. rely on these numbers, and a lack of confidence in the data has far-reaching consequences.”

Trump fired former Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner Erika McEntarfer after the July jobs report showed weak growth that month and included revisions for May and June that were historically large. Trump claimed, without evidence, the revisions constituted a “scam” and a vendetta against his presidency.

He's not wrong but lets wait for the next POTUS to implement it

I don't like the idea, but he does have a point.

“Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data,”

I would release them the second month after, January report issued in March, February in April, etc.

this would give them time for more accuracy.

If you actually read the article it's because he thinks the time frame given to issue it doesn't allow for proper accuracy.

The delays are known and have been accepted before now. I guess this is a way to make the cult leader and his cultists feel less foolish.

Totally unrelated to the last one being fired for bad news. Ok.

The markets will not wait, and will rely on ADP and other reporting.

What constitutes a job? $15 per hour is NOT a job. Eliminate those from the count.

Good idea, that I've mentioned several times on this board. What is the point of releasing monthly figures of politically charged data that so regularly turns out to be far off the mark. Suspend releasing the bogus numbers until the next commissioner fixes the way they gather the data.

Imagine if parents called the principal to ask how little johnny and little Jill are doing in their classes. The principle looks at their grades and it turns out that only Jill's PE teacher has submitted grades, and only Johnny's math teacher has submitted grades for him. Jill is making a hundred in PE, as most kids to, and Johnny was absent for the first math test yesterday, so his grade is 43, pending a make up test.

Should the Principal tell the parents, "It looks like Jill has a solid A average, but Johnny is failing all classes reported!"

Would it be unfair to think that such a principal was looking for a reaction for some reason? Or at the very least that the principal is an idiot?

That would be a mistake because then the markets would follow the ADP reporting like it was a government release. Bitches… you cant hide your failing economy.

There IS a solution....
BUT
Nobody wants to fix the problem....at least no one in government. The 30% are incomplete due to delayed surveys. However, there ARE remedies and fixes for this.

There are private firms that publish the data Wall Street wants. (Not difficult when 90% of the economy is held by 9 corporate equity firms)

It's been something of a quandary for many people.
Do you judge a President's performance based solely on "back pocket" politics?

So....
What's OBVIOUS is the need for someone in the SEC that actually works instead of plays politics. The anti-trust regulations need to be enforced....instead of going after Martha Stewart maybe go after more egregious violations such as the 9 huge equity firms holding the USA hostage to their desires. Make them split up for a change.

Maybe let's do that.....
