Every so often after one of Trump's enormities I read that his popularity is sinking. Unfortunately, when I look at Five Thirty Eight, it seems like he is holding his own.

Trump is the patron saint of unemployed factory workers. There is no future in factory work.
When Henry Ford opened his first assembly line, he paid twice the going rate for factory work. He said, "I want my workers to be able to buy the cars they make."
He also said, "It will be a haven for guys who haven't got the brains for anything else."
For several generations it was. Now the haven is coming to an end. Most of them lack the intelligence to learn a skilled trade, like auto mechanics. To get into a trade school to learn something like that one needs to pass a mantal aptitude test.
Trump cannot help them, and does not really care about them, but he gives them hate targets at whom to direct their anger.

Shortly after he was inaugurated in 2021 he should have announced that he did not intend to run for reelection. What Communists? The American Communist Party has never been prominent in the United States. Right now, it consists of a few thousand members. Their bribes, if they exist, have not turned the Biden family into multi millionaires.
