Trump Went Weeks Without An Intel Briefing As He Feasted On Election Conspiracies At The End Of His Term: CIA Report

Once Trump lost the election, he no longer cared about being President

He didn’t care about COVID
Didnt care about intelligence briefings
Didnt care about the economy

He spent his time on stolen election lies and figuring out how to cheat Biden out of his victory

In 2020 Trump was busy planning his reelection and rallies.

Presidents typically read their daily intelligence report and receive occasional briefings from a CIA officer, but Trump famously preferred in-person briefings that featured lots of pictures and frequent mentions of his own name, but the agency revealed that Trump spent only two days a week receiving sensitive information in sessions that lasted about 45 minutes.

That came to a halt in late 2020, however, according to the CIA’s 'Getting to Know the President' book, written by a revered former inspector general at the agency, John Helgerson," The Daily Beast reported.

"Trump took a vacation break over the holidays when he traveled to Mar-a-Lago and told his briefer 'he would see her later,' Helgerson wrote," according to the report. "The president then went two weeks without that pivotal one-on-one update, unlike his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, who was known to read the daily report even while vacationing in Hawaii."

So our national security was in danger, with no security briefings for over a month.

Candidate and President Trump was notoriously and openly critical of the entire American "intelligence" community and especially the CIA. He saw many of their failures and successes first hand. He was in the best position to assess the best frequency of security briefings, and he did so. That is part of his discretion as President.

So what is the problem?

That a man would sit through two 45 minute sessions a week of being lied to by the CIA is pretty gracious IMHO.

How old are you? They tried reducing his briefings to bullets and graphs and power point presentations. Trump is a fact free guy..

He already said he knew more than his generals, lawyers, doctors etc. because he has a "big brain". That's why he bombed at Wharton, why so many of his businesses failed from lack of due diligence and why he lost to Biden. He tried to run the same campaign as he had in 2015 and have his superspreader rallies during a pandemic.

Trump is dumb and can't read.

Defending the cia says a lot about the the character of person doing it. Democrats believe the cia is clean and pure. They would never deal drugs or run guns to criminals.

Many of those same Democrats have also traditionally loved their little socialist paradises like Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, etc. How many times have you seen one of those leftard Democrats wearing a Che Guevara tshirt?

It was always the CIA who was trying to overthrow their beloved socialist utopian countries, but now all of a sudden they love the CIA?

Gimme a fuckin' break. :laughing0301:

Trump enjoyed a luxury that no President before him had: When confronted with an issue or a problem, he merely had to react in a way that would please his base.

So I'd imagine that boring things like security briefings were essentially irrelevant. The details and implications didn't matter.

I'm not surprised.

His cult of defenders will ridicule you, the book, the author, the reporter, and now me for agreeing wîth it.

Trump would spend hours a day being lied to by Fox News

Sad state of affairs when a President can get more accurate intel from FOX News, than he can from his own intel agencies.

I heard that Stupid Joe watches Sesame Street for his up to date info on world events.

details like this?

President Obama is criticizing President-elect Donald Trump for failing to attend what The Post calls “the most exclusive, and arguably most important, daily meeting in Washington” — the Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB) — warning his successor that without the daily intelligence brief, “you are flying blind.”

This coming from the same person who skipped more than half of his daily intelligence briefings in his first term. As I reported in this space in 2012, during his first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended his daily meeting to discuss the PDB just 536 times — an attendance record of 43.8 percent. In 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance dropped even lower, to just over 38 percent of the time.

The cia cheerleaders like this still believe there are wmds in iraq

You fool. The CIA knew there were no WMDs in Iraq. Bush and Cheney cherry picked the intelligence and marginalized anyone who said NO.. Everybody knew.. Oilmen, Diplomats, Arabs, Historians, Military brass.

Iraq was crippled by two decades of war and sanctions before the invasion.. The Arabs including his friend Bandar told Bush that Saddam was no threat to the neighbors.

Well, he wouldn't have understood "Intel Reports" anyways.

TDS thread # 32,542.

Your national security is in far more danger now, than it was then. I don't think Stupid Joe would even understand what his intel advisors are telling him, unless they drew it out for him with some Crayolas and finger paint.

FPNI
The recent presidential physical says differently.
