Not so ironically it is ‘immigration’ that caused the cultural shift in the wrong direction. ‘Immigrants’ destroyed blue collar trade wages and drove up home values, drove up taxes, healthcare and good people didn’t want to send their children to ‘free public’ schools to hang with thirdworlders so they enrolled their kids in costly private schools. Not saying there is any way or cause to do anything about it, but more women being more active and successful in the work force is why families are shrinking and people are marrying/having children later, if at all. Immigration is a mitigating factor, but not by much. It would take a massive cultural shift to begin to turn the ship around.
Household overheads skyrocketed and wages became stagnant, two incomes became necessary.
