Trump to unveil plans for new U.S. ‘battleship’, reports say

You probably need to get caught up on the thread.
Nope. Im old but have served in that region.

Perhaps im behind on new tech but NOT BLUE WATER NAVY TACTICS.

5 billion dollar ships is the topic.

Current scenario we are duscussing is War with China probably over Taiwan.

Where does the new Battleships fit in to this Naval War College Scenario?

They want Tiawan. They have stated they will take it by force.

Then we and the forces in that region will have to make a choice. Im hopeful to see Japan getting pissed with China.
Taiwan would kick their ass

Taiwan would kick their ass
China is no push over. They have a large airforce which we would need ti assust in taking out.

A sneak atrack with missles could cripple Taiwan from the beginning.

Id hope they have a
Iron dome. 128 vls can be modeled to fire surface to air missiles in a matter of minutes.

How could a country like Taiwan with an Army of 200,000 beat a country like China with an Army of 2 million?

Because China has to cross 100 miles of ocean and land on a heavily defended island.

Yes they can bomb the shit out of Taiwan, but Taiwan has extensive civil defense facilities

Modern weapons can crush defenses.

Japan should be profusely apologizing to China.

Taiwan is part of China, according to the UN and even our own state department. Why shouldn't they take it?

Or we could just mind our own ******* business. A bunch of Chinese arguing over what kind of government they should have isn't our problem.

And I would feel the same way if China started Arming Gavin Newsom's attempt to break California away from the US.

Because Taiwan is an independent democracy

You prove you are China's ***** with that Statement.

We helped China WWII then the ungratelful communist Bastards stabbed us in the back.

Screw what they WANT

Lot easier when the bunkers are blown to hell
Easier said than done
We blasted the shit out of Normandy but still had to hit the beaches
We bombed the hell out of the Ho Chi Minh trail and they kept coming

15th post
Taiwan has been preparing defenses for 80 years
They are dug into mountainous terrain
Landing zones are heavily mined and defended
And bunker busters will tear that shit up without control of the air

Because Taiwan is an independent democracy

Really? So who is their representative to the UN?

Who is the US Ambassador to the Independent Democracy of Taiwan?

Oh, no, wait. They don't have one. Because the world already recognizes that there is only one China, and Taiwan is part of China.

Taiwan was fine with this from 1949 to 1971, when it was allowed to keep China's seat in the UN at US insistence.

The biggest problem with Western Policy Makers is that they say these lofty things about "independence" and "Democracy" when continuing the destructive policies that began with the first Opium War.

Taiwan is "independent" because the world let Japan steal it in 1895. Then, when Japan was forced to give it back, the US promoted the fiction that Taiwan was the legitimate government of China for 30 years.

China looks at issues like Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Uyghurs as examples of the West infringing on its sovereignty.

Looks like Poop-head has nothing to add to a conversation.

Not that my position on Taiwan has changed much at all in the last 10 years. I still point out the absurdity of arming what we recognize as a province of another country.
