Here is a comparison chart matching commonly recognized fascist traits with Trump-era policies or actions:
| Fascist Trait | Trump-era Example |
|---|
| Cult of personality | “I alone can fix it”; loyalty over institutions; mass rallies |
| Disdain for democratic norms | Undermining press, judiciary, and intelligence agencies |
| Suppression of dissent | Labeling protesters "thugs"; attacking media as "enemy of the people" |
| Nationalism and xenophobia | America First; Muslim ban; harsh immigration policies |
| Scapegoating minorities | Portraying immigrants as criminals or invaders |
| Disdain for rule of law | Pressuring DOJ; pardoning allies; defying subpoenas |
| Militarization and use of force | Deploying federal forces against protesters (e.g., Portland 2020) |
| Propaganda and media control | Promoting misinformation; attacking mainstream media |
| Election delegitimization | Claiming 2020 election was stolen; pressuring state officials |
| Political violence encouragement | January 6 rhetoric; refusing to condemn right-wing violence |
Cult of personality? Coming from the Party of Obama being a “rock star”? That’s rich.
It’s also just your opinion, not anything to do with policy.
Can you give examples of “undermining” judiciary? How is calling out a corrupt judiciary “fascist”?
Having feelings of “distain” for government agencies, like intelligence agencies is fascist? Fascists use intelligence agencies to spy on their enemies. The fact President Trump doesn’t trust them proves he’s the opposite of a fascist.
Labeling people is now “fascist”? So every time you all call people on the right a “Nazi” basically means you’re a fascist? LOL.
There is no policy of suppression of decent. We have freedom of speech. In fact it is the left that hates freedom of speech and used the government to silence the opposition as I already pointed out.
Strict immigration policies are not fascism. It’s nationalism.
Scapegoating minorities how? By pointing out bad behavior of people? Every society that has ever existed has done this. This does not make a government “fascist”. Can you point out any government laws that “scapegoat minorities”?
Distain for Rule of Law: pardoning people is within the constitutional power of the President. Maybe you should see how many felons Biden pardoned and compare that to President Trump before calling anyone a fascist for using the pardon. That would make Biden the biggest fascist of all time.
Military use against protestors? You are conflating words. Federal agents aren’t the military. Meanwhile Biden literally used the military to wall up DC for his inauguration and banned protesting him during that time.
Propaganda: show us where the government is using propaganda by forcing media to spew their talking points. Right wing media exists independently of government.
Election delegitimization: Democrats are kings of this. 2000, 2016, 2024 election denial is the norm when they lose. But if the other side does it, suddenly it’s fascism. The only people against legitimizing elections are democrats who always vote against any legislation to rule out illegal voting.
Violent rhetoric: once again, Dems are kings of violent rhetoric. They just stormed an ICE facility to assault ICE agents. The summer of 2020 burning down buildings and shooting cops. If violent rhetoric against the opposition is “fascism” then the Dems are guilty.
