It will be OK. The only national park we ever visit in the fall is Great Smokey Mountains National Park and there is a regular connecting Gatlinburg to Cherokee NC, as well as branching off connecting to the Blue Ridge parkway, and there isn't even an entrance ticket booth, so people keep driving and stopping on the overlooks.
