Trump To Schumer: We Will Permanently Fire DC Bureaucrats If You Shut The Government Down

Yeah, they want to take their ball and go home, just like the children they are. They can't handle it when they can't win within the rules. They would rather make the elderly and the poor suffer as much as possible than to accept defeat.
The elderly and the poor benefit from domestic spending paid for by high taxes for the rich. Republicans want to cut domestic spending in order to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

In every democrat caused shutdown, the democrats immediately try to shut down services aimed at helping the poor in order to cause as much pain as fast as possible. They immediately start wailing about Social Security, even though there is no reason to stop or interrupt payments for quite some time, as money can easily be diverted from less vital programs to continue sending out checks. Under The Fragile One, they shut down park services, even going so far as to close parks that had no need for federal outlays at all, simply to cause pain. This is their MO, and they do it every time.

Your second bit is ludicrous on its face and unworthy of further comment from the more erudite among us.

You do not prove that by asserting it. The more erudite on is the more likely one is to oppose Trump.

There is no future in factory work. if Trump brings back any factories, the work will be done by factory robots.

I oppose all tariffs because I like to buy low cost, high quality imported consumer items.
in other words, you like americans not working. got it.

Manufacturing is essential.
Semiconductors need to move here from Taiwan.
Tariffs are forcing more US automobile factories to be built.
Trump has $17T in commitments for new factories.
Tariffs will result in higher prices for automobiles.

Likewise, you asserted it without any proof at all. I'm simply stating it's ludicrous, and it is.

it's about slave labor. you're a demofk and you love slaves.

A clear political divide exists in the United States based on educational level, with voters who do not hold a college degree being significantly more likely to support Donald Trump and the Republican Party
. Conversely, those with a bachelor's degree or more formal education increasingly favor Democratic candidates.
Findings from the 2024 election
Recent data from the 2024 presidential election illustrates this "educational polarization":
  • Non-college voters leaned toward Trump: Polls indicate that voters without a college degree favored Trump by approximately 14 percentage points.
  • College graduates favored Harris: Voters with a four-year degree or higher education supported Kamala Harris by a double-digit margin of 16 points.
    • Postgraduate degrees strongly Democratic: Support for Democratic candidates increases with higher educational attainment. Voters with postgraduate degrees backed Harris by roughly two-to-one (65% to 33%), a trend consistent with prior elections.

Nobody expects a worker to make as much as the owner. But they expect the worker to earn a fair wag
Including the illegal alien, that picks your tomatoes?

The left is not consistent on this issue

Yes, car prices tend to go up when tariffs are imposed, as automakers typically pass the increased costs of imported vehicles and parts onto consumers through higher prices or markups. Tariffs on essential components like steel and aluminum can raise the cost of even domestically assembled vehicles, while direct tariffs on imported cars can significantly increase their final sticker price. The limited supply of imported cars due to tariffs also contributes to higher prices for both new and used vehicles due to supply and demand principles.

How tariffs affect car prices:
  • Direct cost increase for imported vehicles:
Tariffs are a tax on imports, and automakers usually transfer this cost to consumers, leading to higher purchase prices for imported models.

  • Higher costs for parts:
Tariffs on materials like steel and aluminum make car production more expensive for automakers, even for cars assembled in the U.S. This cost is often passed on to consumers.

  • Reduced supply:
Tariffs can limit the supply of cars and parts, which, according to the law of supply and demand, drives up prices for available vehicles.

  • Impact on used cars:
With fewer new cars available or affordable, demand for used cars increases, pushing their prices up as well.

  • Increased repair and maintenance costs:
Tariffs can also increase the cost of imported car parts, leading to higher repair bills for both new and used vehicles.
What this means for consumers:
  • Higher sticker prices:
You can expect to pay more for both new and used cars as tariffs are reflected in the final sale price.

  • Fewer choices:
Some vehicles may become prohibitively expensive and potentially be discontinued, reducing consumer options.

  • Potential for higher interest rates:
Higher prices, especially for used cars, can impact buyers' affordability, potentially leading to higher loan interest rates.

  • Expedited purchasing:
Some experts suggest acting sooner rather than later to purchase a vehicle before the full financial impact of tariffs is reflected in market prices.

Tariffs are the recourse of countries that cannot compete on the international marketplace.
So exactly how is domestic industry going to compete against countries whose only comparative advantage is dirt cheap labor? Should countries compete by regressing the standard of living of it's own citizens by lowering domestic wages to match? or should they just do what we've been doing, hollowing out our own manufacturing base by offshoring to the point where we're completely dependent on foreign producers for large swaths of goods categories and destroying the livelihood of much of our own labor force?

Tariffs (if used wisely) are a method for nations to neutralize the comparative advantage of (often government induced) lower standards of living in foreign nations (i.e. labor willing to accept wages that are so low that they are unacceptable in the target market).

I'm all for free market competition between nations but it should not be a suicide pact.
