In a Republic, actually
"If anyone was expecting moderate Republicans in Congress to temper Donald Trump’s more extreme plans on immigration and tariffs, the president-elect doesn’t plan to give them the chance, Trump told lawmakers this week.

During a two-hour meeting with Senate Republicans, Trump said he plans to immediately enact his MAGA vision instead of waiting for Congress to act, according to a new report in the Wall Street Journal. He has already prepared about 100 executive orders, and he has no qualms testing the legal limits of presidential authority, he said.

For months, Trump’s aides have been looking at obscure laws passed about 50 years ago that he can invoke to unilaterally carry out his plans and bypass congressional funding limits. Instead of feeling preemptively constrained by constitutional checks and balances, he plans to do what he wants and take his chances with the courts, the Journal reported."

This is why Trump is in fact a fascist – he has contempt for the rule of law, the Constitution, and our democratic institutions.

Good! Go MAGA, what the people voted for.

Trump will act on his own with his actions held up in the courts for years rather than trying to work with Congress to get things passed.

Probably.

Of course, all presidents have done this in recent history. So it's not just him.

Congress has historically been quite content to remain delinquent in this regard and to eagerly kick their responsibility over to the Judicial branch.

And therein lies the real rub.

It turns the constitution and our very form of government on its head.

Sadly, the electorate, collectively speaking, apathetically encourages and serves as justification for that model as a direct consequence of the ever-growing, programmed red helmet/blue helmet political football mindset which has overcame and effectively demolished any semblance of intelligent, relevant dialogue on the topic, while serving as a strategically fueled obstacle to any possibility thereof out in the wild of the www where it all takes place these days.

If the Framers aren't rolling over in their graves by now, they surely oughtta be.

Yeah, I've advocated doing away with the EO. Not going to happen but I certainly support that.

But Trump like Obama believe putting in the work is below them.

Sadly that is true.

You people have never had such a resourceful adversary like Trump, and you're freaking out. :laughing0301:

Nope. They are all coming to the table. It is a new era of bipartisanship, and it is working, because they all want re-elected, knowing that we sent Trump to Washington to clean up their messes.

Persactly, you voted for the shit storm that is about to be unleashed. Monday is going to be a big day. EO's are coming, like the article states, perhaps a hundred or more.

You can't blame Trump. The Republican party is officially a shit show. The best thing for Democrats to do is sit back and let the shit start flowing. Inflation, buckle up cowboy, it is going to return with vengeance.

Nobody has ever capitalized on stupid like Trump.
