We shall have to see what a 'comprehensive deal' means. Given that the UK already had a trade deficit with the US we need to see if this has negatively impacted that balance. I imagine it will be reset to what it was back on January 19.

  • The White House is due to hold a news conference at 10:00 a.m. ET (3 p.m. London time) on Thursday in the Oval Office.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday: “The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one.”
  • Britain, which runs a trade deficit with the U.S., was spared the higher “reciprocal” tariffs when Trump announced his “Liberation Day” duties, although it was still hit with the baseline 10% levy.

In what is a telling sign of the dragging trade deal negotiations Trump is announcing a trade "deal" (understanding) that will take months to hammer out with our closest ally who has a weak economy. Yep.. the layup "deal" has taken months to get an understanding and will take months more of negotiating. We are screwed.

By the way, we had a free trade deal with them prior. So, we are winning nothing

What will be announced today is likely to be only the bare bones of a narrow agreement.

There will be months of negotiations and legal paperwork to follow.

It could also be relatively short-term, covering just a few items.

Currently, most goods imported from the UK to the US face a blanket 10% tariff and that's expected to remain.

We will see....

Mr. Trump teased a new trade agreement in a social media post on Wednesday night, though he did not specify which nation was part of the deal. On Thursday, a senior British official confirmed that a deal with the United States had been reached.

And on Thursday morning, Mr. Trump was back on social media to confirm that it was, in f

The expert has spoken.

Oh, not this guy ^^^^

He's got nothing.

I am talking about an expert who actually understands what is going on.

A framework was announced. Just like I said. Months to go... with our closest ally. LOL.

And the US auto industry trashes it.
“Under this deal, it will now be cheaper to import a UK vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts. This hurts American automakers, suppliers, and auto workers,” Blunt said Friday.
