oil companies are among the largest and most profitable corporations in the world, so what the hell are we doing giving them our tax dollars to make more money?

Venezuela is incapable of rebuilding its own oil infrastructure. So, we make a deal. We help them pull it out of the ground, they sell it to us at a discount and ship it to Texas where we refine it. We get diesel and asphalt, they get money and jobs. It's a totally great deal for all parties.
