Talk about revisionist history! Trump made the offer and those in charge of security at the Capitol turned it down because they didn't like the "optics" of armed troops at the Capitol. If the Jan. 6th Committee had REALLY wanted to get to the bottom of what happened that day they would have put everyone involved under oath! They didn't do that though...did they? They had a script...they had a narrative...they put on a show.
No one at the Capitol had the power to turn anything down and nothing was offered to them.
The Capitol was at risk because the Democrats in charge of security for DC turned down National Guard help or took a small number of troops but demanded that they not be armed nor have riot gear. The FBI had intelligence that violence was likely and failed to give that intelligence to the Capitol Police Chief. The Democrats that were given that intelligence didn't like the "optics" of armed troops protecting the Capitol and turned down the offer of National Guard troops. Then when their decision turned a protest into a riot they try and spin the narrative to cover their asses.

The Capitol Police Chief didn't call the President 30 times desperately trying to get National Guard troops deployed...HE CALLED THE SGT. AT ARMS OF THE HOUSE!!! Why? Because the Sgt at Arms is one of the people in charge of security at the Capitol! And who does he answer to? Obviously it's Nancy Pelosi because the Sgt at Arms tells the Capitol Police Chief repeatedly that he can't do anything until Pelosi tells him he can! So how you make THAT Trump's fault is something you'll have to explain!

He called his MAGA MOB to DC on that particular day when Congress was counting the EC votes. He sent them to the Capitol vert near the time they were counting the votes. He put a target on Pence's and enraged the MOB with a special tweet about him. After learning of the riot he did nothing to call off his shock troops for hours. He should be held to account for all the destruction his actions surrounding Jan 6th caused including all the deaths and injuries. As McConnell said, He "is practically and morally responsible....."
