President Donald Trump told NBC News on Saturday that Elon Musk would see “serious consequences” if he backs Democratic candidates who challenge Republicans supporting the “big, beautiful bill.”

“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump told NBC News’ Kristen Welker in a phone interview.

“He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” he continued, without giving specifics on what that would look like.

Trump also said that he thinks his relationship with Musk is done after their public feud erupted this week.

“I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened, I gave him breaks in my first administration and saved his life in my first administration,” Trump said.

“I have no intention of speaking to him,” Trump added.

When asked whether he thinks his relationship with Musk is over, he said, “I would assume so.”

A private citizen has been threatened with facing "consequences" for exercising his right not to support a policy of the regime's? What consequences? What right does trump have to make such threats? Why aren't Repubs outraged by such behavior?

Cuz they are getting used to how an autocrat rules and they're okay with it.

Steve Bannon is calling for Musk to be stripped of his citizenship and deported. This isn't Bannon talking out his ass.

Musk could be charged with any number of crimes related to DOGE's actions post inauguration. Then there's his drug addictions. The Administration could easily revive any of the FAA, SEC or other regulatory issues Musk was facing before DOGE destroyed the FAA and SEC with mass firings.

The plan being to "nationalize" SpaceX and take it over, and deport Musk.

As is often the case the threat may be all that's necessary to alter behavior, in this case Musk's. Meaning he may not side with Dem's on the BBB because of concern trump could hurt his businesses by corruptly targeting them.

How would Repubs have reacted if Obama had made a similar threat against the Koch brothers for financing ways to block Obama's agenda? They would have been outraged, and rightly so. Yet, Dear Leader gets a pass.

What you are describing is retribution for Musk's opposition to trump's agenda. An impeachable offense if it came to fruition. But it never would if trump had any internal checks on his abuses of power within the party.............he doesn't.

Watching Trump in action, both in the last Administration, and in this one, I have noticed that Trump seems to go out of his way to do things in the most illegal and provocative manner possible, and then when it blows up in his face, he claims the "Deep State" is out to get him, or the Deep State is opposed to making American great again.

But Trump has always taken the illegal route to get what he wants, starting with his illegal evasion of the draft. There were any number of things a rich young man could do to legally avoid the draft, but Trump chose the illegal means of getting a fake letter from a doctor claiming he was physically unfit to serve.

For Trump, the cruelty and the chaos is the GOAL. "Getting away with it" has always been a factor in anything Trump does. Trump is openly accepting bribes, shaking down the oligarchs, and conducting a completely criminal administration. And daring anybody to take him on.

The guy is promoting violence around the world. The Iran attack being the prime example. Trump said war would never happen with him in office, but here you are. Israel did this to prevent the US from making a deal with Iran. Trump over estimates his ability to control world leaders, none of whom have any fear or respect for Trump.

Hamas attacked on October 7th to prevent the Saudi's from making peace with Israel. Israel bombs Iran to prevent the USA from making peace with Iran. Trump tried to start a war with Iran last time he was in office. There's nobody to stop him this time.

This is Dictator 101...

You have your supporters but even your supporters who are given favourable positions (i.e. $9bn a year with of contracts) can be pulled if upset the dictator....
This is how you keep them inline...

P.S. this is highly illegal but since they have the DOJ, who gives a fuck..

I say it all the time, this has been an incredible history lesson.

Now we know "how they could let this happen".

The strange thing... This is how dictators come to power all around the world...

The Brits practically invented it...

Dictator comes to power and picks a group he calls favoured loyalists, as long as they tow the line they get favoured treatment over the other lot... Brits used to invade and the first one to show loyalty gets picked..
Musk was first Billionaire to bend the knee and now he discovered that dissent is not tolerated...

It's been amazing to watch the template being carried out, step by step. You can just point at each step and say, "yeah, look".

It's become clear to me that (a) so many Americans just don't give a shit one way or the other, and (b) our world history education has completely failed us.

There should be a picture of trump's face in the dictionary beside the word victimhood. He plays the card constantly when in reality he brings it all on himself.

If you made a list of the 10 worst things trump has done since 2.0 began and had showed it to someone 10 years ago they would have said "it couldn't happen here." We are living thru an attempted transformation of this country in to something unrecognizable.

I've spent the last nine years coming to grips with the fact that America isn't what I thought it was.

Admittedly, it took a long time. Now I'm pretty much resigned to it. All I can do is observe, and help my kids through it.

Trump being unfavorably scrutinized by Trump is not a place anyone should want to be.
