Trump removes Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from office, citing fraud allegations

Good! The statute seems to give him this authority.

More importantly, the Federal Reserve is part of which branch? It certainly isn't its own branch, as the Constitution has not been amended.

Here we go! Fasten your seatbelts.

President Donald Trump ousted Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on Monday, alleging she lied on mortgage forms by declaring two primary residences.
In a letter to Cook, Trump said the Federal Reserve Act provides that she can be removed at his discretion.
"As set forth in the Criminal Referral dated August 15, 2025, from Mr. William J. Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to Ms. Pamela Bondi, Attorney General of the United States…there is sufficient reason to believe you may have made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements," Trump wrote. "For example, as detailed in the Criminal Referral, you signed one document attesting that a property in Michigan would be your primary residence for the next year.
"Two weeks later, you signed another document for a property in Georgia stating that it would be your primary residence for the next year," Trump continued. "It is inconceivable that you were not aware of your first commitment when making the second. It is impossible that you intended to honor both."
...

He has no such authority, and she hasn't been removed.

Thread fail.

The Fed is semi-privatized to prevent the executive from controlling it for political purposes. It's as if the congress and the states could see a Donald Trump or a Huey Long coming down the pike.

I think the President can fire for cause, but not for allegations or "I want to."

Lisa Cook has not denied that she lied on two loan applications. From our Treasury Secty this morning:

“There are two kinds of people — there are people who think that President Trump is putting undue pressure on the Fed, and there are people like President Trump and myself who think that if a Fed official committed mortgage fraud, that this should be examined, and that they shouldn’t be serving as one of the nation’s leading financial regulators,” he said. “And what we haven’t heard from Miss Cook is we haven’t heard her say ‘I didn’t do it.’ We haven’t her say ‘I didn’t do it.'”

He continued, “She keeps saying the president can’t remove her. The other thing too, I have called in the recent past for an internal review of all the Fed’s operations, and I have encouraged Chair Powell to do this on an internal basis before there is an external review and this is the kind of thing that needs to be addressed because the Fed is an unaccountable institution and its relationship with the American people depends on a high level of trust. And incidents like this puncture that trust, so President Trump is trying to make sure that anyone who serves at this institution has the trust of the American people.”

In addition to firing Lisa I would support an audit of the Fed. Its never been done and its way past about time.

Except for the audits they release every year.

tRump's legal issues are his own doing.
Doesn't look that way.........

I checked her education background, and she has a very solid education. Her problem is claimed over her story about two houses she owns claiming she lives fulltime in each.

Another allegation. Leave it to the professional, Robert W.
How many primary residences do you think she can have?

It’s not just the lenders she screwed but the state and localities that give a better property tax rate

Mortgage fraud is basically tax fraud as well

Seems like everyone associated with the Biden admin had their hands in that

Well not to you, of course. You are one of the brainwashing victims.
