Trump removes Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from office, citing fraud allegations

Electing trump is like agreeing to allow him to pilot a Boeing 747 aircraft.

He ignores advice, attacks people who criticize his actions, twiddles nobs and controls like he knows what he's doing etc. He'd likely tell air traffic control to go **** themselves if they told him to change course or altitude.

We all know how that would end, yet the magats can't see how trump's piloting the country will end.
Yeah, we heard all this before. If not for COVID, his first presidency was a success. Biden screwed it up and now Trump is fixing it again. Rinse and repeat if a Democrat gets back in the office.

Is it just me that thinks that it's funny that Democrats all of a sudden don't care about falsifying mortgage documents?

By the way, giving an opinion on what you think your property is worth is quite different than intentionally claiming multiple primary residences.
Only a **** up would think that. Make a charge and let the rodeo commence.

You don't fire on a President's 'because'.

You are upside down, inside out, and backwards.

Good! The statute seems to give him this authority.

More importantly, the Federal Reserve is part of which branch? It certainly isn't its own branch, as the Constitution has not been amended.

Here we go! Fasten your seatbelts.

President Donald Trump ousted Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on Monday, alleging she lied on mortgage forms by declaring two primary residences.
In a letter to Cook, Trump said the Federal Reserve Act provides that she can be removed at his discretion.
"As set forth in the Criminal Referral dated August 15, 2025, from Mr. William J. Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to Ms. Pamela Bondi, Attorney General of the United States…there is sufficient reason to believe you may have made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements," Trump wrote. "For example, as detailed in the Criminal Referral, you signed one document attesting that a property in Michigan would be your primary residence for the next year.
"Two weeks later, you signed another document for a property in Georgia stating that it would be your primary residence for the next year," Trump continued. "It is inconceivable that you were not aware of your first commitment when making the second. It is impossible that you intended to honor both."
...

Well, if she hasn't got the ability to get mortgage applications right, I can't see how on earth she could be qualified to be governor of the Federal Reserve.

Tariffs are taxes, silly. Did you not know that? Trump can levy hundreds of millions of dollars worth of taxes for any reason he wants anytime he wants. That's pretty authoritarian, don't you think?

I guess the part you miss is that the us consumer very well may not pay these "taxes". There are other pieces to the puzzle, and as I have pointed out previously, the United States is in a unique position in this regard due to the power of our consumers.

Why would countries impose retaliatory tariffs just to increase taxes on their own consumers? Does that make any sense to you?

We both know this never would have come up if she had done what Trump wanted.

And we both know that you don't care about the law as long as the lawbreakers are Democrats.

Could be a tip of the iceberg moment.

Just think how many in DC have more than one home as a residence.

'Don't worry, nobody looks at this'.

We consume far too much and that's why so many countries are exporting to us. Our consumption exceeds our production, get a book:

Yes, perfect sense.

The US customer is very much paying the tariff.

You think business won't pass it on.

Are you welfare, because you sound like you have not a clue.

There are dozens of warnings on fascism's takeover of political America, but very, very few will be capable of understanding. At least not for the span of time it takes for fascism to self-destruct.

Someone is paying them. The money flowing into the treasury as a result of the tariffs isn't imaginary. It didn't spring into existence. It's being paid for by American companies. Whether the consumer pays for them or not, it's coming from Americans.

None of what you said changes the fact that his behavior with these tariffs is clearly authoritarian. More so than any previous president ever dared. Not to mention the manner in which he's using them. Such as with Brazil, where he justifies tariffs because of a personal relationship to Bolsanaro.

Personalization of politics is distinctly authoritarian.

Avoiding the question. It's not about me. It's about Trump and his authoritarian tendencies. If Cook hadn't voted against Trump, none of this would have happened.
