After talks between the Greenmark and Denmark foreign ministers and U.S. officials on Wednesday yielded no results, President Donald Trump was met with questions as to what his next steps might be. Talking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump—who continues to ramp up pressure on Greenland in his desire to annex the territory—refused to rule out the option of leaving NATO.

“Greenland is very important for the national security,” said Trump, doubling down on his argument about the Kingdom of Denmark territory. He went on to say the U.S. “cannot rely on Denmark” to protect Greenland from Russian and Chinese interests and warned that he has many options to explore. “You found that out last week with Venezuela," said Trump, referencing the operation that resulted in the capture and detainment of the fallen Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

This is a dream come true for Putin. If the US left NATO, Russia would have a free hand in western Europe and in the entire world. If trump tried to pull the US out of NATO, if repubs did not impeach and remove him, then he would get his civil war, that he has wished for. He is either doing Putin's work or he has lost his mind.

The only "negotiating" tactic Trump knows is his caveman threat strategy. That's his intellectual and temperamental level -- just maul people.

I think Europe is handling this properly, carefully avoiding hurting his feelings and saying comparitively calm, constructive, conciliatory things.

When it comes to him, they can only take things one step at a time, and just forget what he said yesterday. That's how one deals with children.

European troops in Greenland won’t change Trump’s mind, White House says

The deployment of European troops in Greenland doesn't alter U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to get his hands on the Arctic island, the White House said.

"I don't think troops in Europe impacts the president's decision-making process or impact his goal of the acquisition of Greenland at all," White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Thursday when asked whether recent announcements of European boots on the ground would affect Trump's calculus.

This week, several European nations including France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Netherlands said they would send troops to Greenland to take part in a Danish military exercise — with some of them already there. Estonia is participating in the planning and "is ready to put boots on the ground if requested." NATO is not involved in the military exercise, which is an inter-governmental drill.

The question being, will our military leaders go along with trump's attempt to destroy NATO?

It's difficult to see how our European allies wouldn't see this as a disregard for the military alliance that's been in place since 1949. As pointed out in the OP, it's a dream come true for Putin after Biden lead NATO's resistance to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Remember Ukraine?

You guys are so stupid. Like a president should be, no president should ever rule anything completely in or out. You've got your panties all in a wad over nothing.

America is the most advanced nation in the world. Its people, its military, its rights, and its freedom. We don't machinegun our protesters, or murder homosexuals. Trump is a great world leader and it shows. Would you rather have a president that is respected or one that shits himself? Never mind, you have already shown your choice long ago. The nations of NATO know only America can provide Greenland the security it needs to stop nations as Russia, China, Iran and their goal to rule through conquest. You know of another nation up to the task? I didn't think so. So shut up, your stupid is showing.

Over nothing? The potential dissolution of NATO is nothing? The fact that taking over Greenland was ever considered is a sign trump is not in his right mind.

‘Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’: Republicans amp up their resistance to Trump’s Greenland push

You boomers still are obsessed with Putin and destroying Russia.

Why does the left hate Putin so much? You all fawn over other dictators like Mao and Xi. You love the little dictator of Ukraine who cancelled elections and remained in office.

But for some reason Putin is far worse. Can you articulate why? Is his country worse off now than when he took power decades ago? The West sure as hell declined in that time span, but not Russia.

He is a man/child. Studies have been made concerning morality among children. It was found out that childhood morality can be defined by the phrase, "What's in it for me." THAT IS THE EXTENT OF trump's MORALITY.

America is not a free country for all Americans.

That is Poootin/trump's goal. He did not get to do it his first term, so he is taking another shot at it.

Odds that Trump would withdraw from NATO very high - Trump's foreign policy advisor Bolton 10/11/24

Well, Magats would get what they want. If we are not with NATO, I suppose we are aligned with Russia. THAT IS trump's goal. H has had to take it slow, up to this point. He does not want to enrage GOP hawks. But he is getting to the point of just walking away from an alliance that has kept the US safe for decades. What a POS this man is.

They exhibit the simplicity of 5th graders every day.
It's jaw-dropping. :laughing0301:

They're about as sophisticated as a tire iron.

Meh, he won't be able to do shit.

I have no doubt he would go there but Congress won't let him, he will have Republican mutiny on his hands.

If it goes to the USSC, he usually wins. Maybe he is threatening the families of the Justices? Who knows what is in the mind of a Mafia Boss?
