Ummm, not quite. They didn't "love" him. They reported on him and featured him because his outrageousness was eye-candy to the people who bought newspapers and watched the telly.
Further, DTrump had a widespread reputation in journalistic circles of being a bullmerde' artist. A fake and a phony....but good copy. Remember 'John Baron'?

Don Trump, the guy America hired to lead us for a 4yr stint, before firing him...... would use a fake name and call up reporters and extoll the virtues and acumen of, guess who? .....Don Trump.
