Idiocracy may be the most prescient movie ever made. What was supposed to be satire now feels like a documentary... maybe with better lighting.

We are watching:

• The dumbing down of America - where facts are optional, expertise is suspicious, and “I saw a meme” counts as research.
• Showmanship over substance - loud confidence replacing competence, performance replacing policy, and politics turning into reality TV with worse writers.
• The loss of expertise and basic competency - where the people who actually know things are ignored, mocked, or replaced by the most shameless person in the room.
• Consumerism as culture - everything reduced to branding, slogans, merch, clicks, outrage, and whatever keeps people distracted long enough not to notice the damage.
• The mistreatment of the environment - because apparently poisoning the planet is fine as long as someone can make a quarterly profit and slap a flag on it.

At some point, satire stops being funny when it starts looking like the evening news.
