Trump picks Fox News host and Army National Guard veteran Pete Hegseth for defense secretary

Trump’s replacement for four-star General Lloyd Austin: 44-year-old ‘anti-woke’ veteran and former FOX host Pete Hegseth

Hegseth, a staunch opponent of DEI initiatives and former guard at Guantanamo Bay, has less leadership experience than current Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and critics have called him “unqualified.”

America’s next secretary of defense could be starkly different from what the country has ever seen before.
Hegseth will succeed Secretary-General Lloyd Austin III, the nation’s first Black Secretary of Defense, a historic choice made by President Joe Biden in 2021.
Austin, 71, is a four-star general with 41 years of service in the Army. He earned a Silver Star for his leadership in the Iraq War and later oversaw all combat operations in Iraq as commanding general of United States Forces, as well as military operations in Afghanistan in the 2010s.

Bakari Sellers, CNN political analyst, echoed the concerns of many Americans regarding Trump’s recent cabinet picks, but particularly Hegseth.
“People argue about DEI and lack of qualifications, then rave about Pete Hegseth being placed over the most powerful military in the world,” Sellers tweeted. “Watching mediocrity being rewarded is the hallmark of the Trump Administration.”
The Department of Defense oversees a budget of approximately $842 billion, according to the department’s website.

Commentary:
Notably. General Austin was the apple of Obama's eye, for his job in the primary troo[ reduction and retreat from Afghanistan and was partial to the Officer purge by Obama that advanced him.
Then again those who have previously held the position as Secretary of Defense did not necessarily have the "Experience" has Democrats and naysayers are complaining about Trump's choice.
Take for example the following:
Robert A. Lovett, Charles E. Wilson, Neil H. McElroy, Robert S. McNamara, James R. Schlesinger, Robert Rumsfeld, Caspar W. Weinberger, Richard Cheney, and Ashton Carter.
None of the above persons had previous experience as Secretary of Defense, working with the troops, logistics etc. they were all appointees of elected presidents chosen for political reasons.
I suggest to you that Pete Hegseth has just as good qualifications as any previous appointed Secretary of Defense.

Written by someone who has known Hegseth personally for a long time:

The Trump Sh*t Show Arrives in D.C.

I’m confident there’s zero chance that incoming Armed Services Committee chair, Sen. Roger Wicker, would think Hegseth an appropriate, or even a defensible, selection. Nor would Armed Service Committee members Sens. Tom Cotton or Dan Sullivan. Will they say publicly what they know privately? We’ll see. But it will be easier for them to do so if there’s thorough research into Hegseth’s background and the public marshaling of evidence for Hegseth’s radical unfitness for the position.

Because he really is unfit.

The general reaction of others who knew him back when is summarized in a text I got last night. This is from someone who’s seen it all, who has a cynical view of politics, and who expects the corridors of power to be populated by opportunists and phonies. He’s not the type to get upset about second- or third-raters being appointed to high office. But still, he couldn’t quite believe this nomination. Under the subject line “Good Christ,” my friend wrote simply: “I wouldn’t let this creep dog-sit for me. Now he’s going to be the Secretary of Defense?”
So, what specifically makes him unqualified?

Better yet ask why NG Walz was qualified for VP
Seems they've all been ordered to chant "unqualified" but can't really come up with any rations reasons. Seems the only one that comes close is that he's never headed a large government bureaucracy. That misses the whole point of this last election.

They're just stupid. Personally I think there's more quailed out there but it's fun to point out hypocrisy

why is it demofks still think they get the choice, amazing set of sore losers.

Says just about anyone who understands leadership.

Which excludes the lying scumbags in the Democratic party "leadership". Including the alcoholic shrew who shoved Harris down your throat.

These are the hallmarks of effective and competent management teams. Governments and corporations overseen by strong leaders who have the self awareness and courage to appoint a strong team and work with tem succeed.

Ones who trade in office politics, chaos, corruption, self dealing and incompetence don’t.

Go tell your "leadership".

Better yet, just show them the door

I realize that your ilk are loudly cheering for yes men, chaos and ideological fringe tabloid people.

But as Trump’s bankruptcies, and his chaotic mismanaged first regime proved, this is not a path to anything other than more Trump BS, with few, if any, real results to show for it.

1% inflation, zero wars, and Abraham accords.

What did Biden bring to the table? Cross dressing clothing thieves.

Winning, and your post shows that. Bankruptcies while He was in office? Did Trump use existing BK laws, created in bipartisan congress, to His advantage?

Ones who trade in office politics, chaos, corruption, self dealing and incompetence don’t.
Isn't that exactly how Pelosi and Schumer get a 100% dem vote on everything?
He’s already playing for the right wing media, and little else.
Mainly due to your media sources have crashed and burned with the voting public.

You show up a week before the election..................LOL..........dem stooge. Looks like you lost big time, clownman............. :auiqs.jpg:

Trump picks Fox News host and Army National Guard veteran Pete Hegseth for defense secretary

In his announcement, Trump called Hegseth “tough, smart and
a true believer in America First.”

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday named Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host and military veteran, as his pick for defense secretary.

In a statement, Trump described Hegseth as "tough, smart and a true believer in America First."
"With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice — Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down," Trump said.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., applauded Trump’s selection, calling Hegseth a “great choice.”
“Pete brings a lot to the table. He’s got experience, and I think he’ll be reform-minded in the areas that need reform. So I’m excited about the pick,” Johnson told reporters on Capitol Hill, without elaborating on what programs he thinks need changing.

Commentary:
Let Pete answer for himself...

Just think, that if Kamala elected the alternative would have been General Milley Vanilli.
Personally, I like the choice, Hegseth has no stone to grind. os a retired major and has been in the trenches. He didn't need to have his card punched.
I'm sure that people like former retirees like Gen. Keane,
Col. McGregor and others....

Living up to his qualifications as a degenerate, alcoholic, Fox News entertainer (seemingly the perfect fit for the Trump regime), Hegeth may be spending more time with his family - unless his family has any say in it.

Maybe, thy could ask Bukeke for a favor.
