Is Trump going down the same road as he did last time, in choosing people that are not qualified for the job, or just picking people that will support him in staying as president while the job they do is not important?

Trump’s defense choice stuns the Pentagon and raises questions about the Fox News host’s experience

WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump stunned the Pentagon and the broader defense world by nominating Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as his defense secretary, tapping someone largely inexperienced and untested on the global stage to take over the world’s largest and most powerful military.

The news was met with bewilderment and worry among many in Washington as Trump passed on a number of established national security heavy-hitters and chose an Army National Guard captain well known in conservative circles as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

On top of that:

Trump Draft Executive Order Would Create Board to Purge Generals

WASHINGTON—The Trump transition team is considering a draft executive order that establishes a “warrior board” of retired senior military personnel with the power to review three- and four-star officers and to recommend removals of any deemed unfit for leadership.

If Donald Trump approves the order, it could fast-track the removal of generals and admirals found to be “lacking in requisite leadership qualities,” according to a draft of the order reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. But it could also create a chilling effect on top military officers, given the president-elect’s past vow to fire “woke generals,” referring to officers seen as promoting diversity in the ranks at the expense of military readiness.

Trump is putting up an officer that is totally inexperienced in being a military leader (but is a big fan of Trump) to be his Secretary of Defense? I would venture to say "no, he is there to be Trump's puppet".

In addition, Trump wants to start firing Generals that do not "fall in step" with what he wants.

Doesn't this look like a dictator's move to get the military to do what he wants...................much like Venezuela and other countries where the military is there more to keep the citizens of that country under control than to defend the country?

I do believe this is the "first step" in destroying our Democracy and keeping Trump in control so he can stay as president for as long as he lives and rule the country the way he wants, **** the Constitution and Bless Autocracy

Leftists are the most uninformed people. Stop being so stupid and use a search engine to find out how uninformed you are.

In 2004 his unit was called to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, where he served as an infantry platoon leader with the Minnesota Army National Guard. His unit was under the operational control of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Shortly after returning from Cuba, Hegseth volunteered to serve in Baghdad and Samarra, where he held the position of infantry platoon leader and, later in Samarra, as Civil–Military Operations Officer. During his time in Iraq, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a second Army Commendation Medal.[17][citation needed]

He returned to active duty in 2012 as a captain. He deployed to Afghanistan with the Minnesota Army National Guard and acted as a senior counterinsurgency instructor at the Counterinsurgency Training Center in Kabul.[citation needed]

And I could go on to refute the rest of your post, but its worthless. Leftists are generally arrogant know-it-alls that are incapable of learning, IMHO.

I don't really care about a lack of experience. Fresh faces are needed. That said, I'm worried that some of these picks are more Israel first than they are America first.

Trumpy did his thing. He won. Now the people who have a brain left make the decisions.

How dare a Commander In Chief expect his Generals to follow orders and not stab him in the back.

OP is a clueless clown.

So far it seems to be all warmongering lunatics. I like that Hegseth seems to have no real ties to the Military Industrial Complex, but it's a shame he seems to share all of their views regardless. Might as well have elected Harris and got Liz Cheney in the cabinet.

I do apologize for the typo and misinformative statement. I have made the appropriate change. I did not mean that he was inexperienced at war, I meant he was inexperienced at being a general and running a war. He was only a platoon leader in the military and that does not qualify him to be Secretary of Defense. He has not been in charge of any wars or strategizing a war.

eeyep. Pretty much.

Well he's also a popular cable news entertainment programming figure. So I imagine he'll be largely selling those views. More of a MIC PR guy in that regard.

Might as well have elected Harris and got Liz Cheney in the cabinet.
eeyep...

But placing all of that aside, like you, I also tend to like Pete.

You are now spewing BS. After all, this was not my opinion but the opinion of the Generals at the Pentagon. Are you saying that they are the leftists you mention?

Which qualification required to be Sec of Defense does he not meet?

The same thing happened in Trump's first term and the fresh faces (that had no experience) failed at their jobs.

No, Trump picked experienced people who turned out to be deep swamp asshats who constantly undermined him. He isn’t making that mistake again.

There was no typo but plenty of misinformation and ignorance but I accept your half assed apology.
I meant he was inexperienced at being a general and running a war.
And its about time we had infantrymen who actually fought in these out of control wars being given a bigger role and sidelining the war loving military industrial complex Eisenhower warned us about.

Our military is a MESS. We need to clean house and use merit for promotion, not DEI, CRT bullshit who advance agendas that have exactly nothing to do with an excellent military and everything to do with creating divisivion and substandard behaviors among the recruits.

Well he seems to be in favor of continuing to use American taxpayer money to support Israel's extermination of Palestinians because Israelis are God's chosen people, and he seems to support continuing the disastrous policy of backing Ukraine in their war against Russia. So I wouldn't say that I like him beyond one meaningless aspect.

Yes, the same shit again

And then there were ten: With 85% turnover across President Trump’s A Team, who remains?

You support a president making the same mistakes as before and generating failures all over the place?

Shouldn't a leader learn from his mistakes? Or you want the same shit again?
