Trump orders US carrier strike group to Caribbean

Manufactured crisis. Rickety boats “supposedly” operated by drug smugglers in international waters. We have police and a legal system to handle. Minimally international law requires the use of non-lethal force but it makes good TV so who cares?
Um police don’t have jurisdiction in international waters

International law allows for lethal force

“Trump has ordered an aircraft carrier strike group to the Caribbean, a major escalation of warships in the region as the U.S. attacks alleged drug-running boats and increases pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Deploying a carrier is a significant move for any White House, and often suggests larger scale military operations.

The arrival of the U.S.S. Gerald Ford, the Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier from the Mediterranean, alongside several destroyers and a submarine, will add to what is already the world’s largest naval deployment.”

An attempt by Trump to deflect from a failing economy, sinking poll numbers, and Epstein.

It’s also an escalation of the lawless killing of civilians absent evidence off wrongdoing.
Well, wouldn’t it be good to get rid of Maduro and have the legitimately elected democracy take over and stop the drug flow all at the same time? Why are democrats for dictators and crimes?

Because they hate Trump more than they care about Americans overdosing on drugs. It's kinda like wanting the Gaza ceasefire to fail.

Trump ignores the DEA's 2025 memo that reveals Columbia, Peru, and Bolivia are the primary sources of cocaine destined for US consumers; for a "peace POTUS," Don the Con has no problem starting new wars as distractions from a lifetime of criminal activities.

GoogleAI Overview:
  • "Focus on expatriate voters: Some analysts suggest that the escalating rhetoric and military actions are a way to appeal to the large Venezuelan expatriate population in South Florida. This would be a way to reinforce their support for Trump, who critics claim is overlooking his administration's deportations of Venezuelan migrants.
  • Long history of intervention: Observers and historians note that American intervention in Latin American affairs is a long standing pattern..."

I don't oppose the US government targeting the cartels. I just don't approve of Trump doing it. :tomato:

True. which is why this photo with three carriers in the Pacific is so unusual.

Actually I see four CV in that photo. Unfortunately I can't enlarge more to get the details, but the two in the center line-up have the French one leading the Japanese one, which with it's smaller flight deck would be considered a helicopter carrier, but such can often operate VSTOL aircraft such as a version of the F-35. Flanked by two USN CVs.

Text of your article does mention three carriers and shows a different picture;

"Behind the USS Carl Vinson there’s the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton and a pair of Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers, the USS Sterett and USS William P. Lawrence."

"... Japanese helicopter carrier JS Kaga — recently modified to carry light aircraft"

"The French contingent includes the carrier the FS Charles De Gaulle and its support frigates and destroyers."

This photo from the link shows them sailing abreast ...

USN on left, Japan in center, French on right.

BTW, this picture is a "parade formation", with carriers leading. In normal operations the escorting warships will be in a ring around the CV in center.
