I'm sure this won't matter, but I do look forward to the spin. Maybe it's Obama's fault? Hillary? Comey? The Deep State? Maybe it's Fake News?

From the conservative Washington Examiner:

Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office

The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.

The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.

He should take up this fight or it could cost him dearly. This is the issue the left will pounce on and they are waiting until the debates to do so.

I suspected that none of the walls were new due to the court decision, however, I thought possibly some of the fencing was new and being constructed with the blessing of that state and the Dems just ignored it as a minor deterrent since they didn't want the political heat of trying to prevent a state from asking for the help.

Your economic future depends on keeping illegal immigration out, this I am certain of. You simply cannot sustain such a massive amount of citizens on a monthly basis, no logical person can think this will work long term. The replacement for American global position will then be China, God help us all.

What he replaced matters.

Read 5he full article before commenting. How can you not blame the obstruction of the Democrats and activist judges.

Of course this is true and obvious, it will still hurt him, possibly more then expected as the message is pushed closer to election day and his strongest supporters decide "voting is a waste of time". This is what I said a long time ago when I said he should have pushed back on his first budget and told Paul Ryan to get it down or resign. The momentum was in his favor and he could have had it done.

2020 is around the corner and I guarantee ANY failed promises will be exploited. This is his signature promise and he can really get it done if he's willing to stay the course. The shut down would have been won if he wanted it to be won as no funding occurs without his signature.

It's a tough battle, not an easy won, but it's a clear winner for him and Independents who are seeing 100k people a month enter your country illegally.

No spin. This is a huge failure. It could be the failure that defines his presidency.

He should have moved on this day one. The American people voted for a FUCKING WALL.

For such a smart operator, this was very stupid.

I have a better idea: Replace China over time with Central and South America as our primary trading partner. Make it so these people want to stay in their countries because there are good JOBS there. Stop doing most of our trading with an adversary. Marginalize the Americans who are simple bigots.

“in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border”

Which part?

Trump has used Elbit Systems (an Israelite company) to put 200 miles of IFT up, with 7258 miles to go.
Elbit Systems U.S. Subsidiary Awarded Additional $26 Million Contract to Provide Integrated Fixed Towers System in Arizona

HAIFA, Israel, June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) (TASE: ESLT) ("Elbit Systems") announced today that its subsidiary in the U.S., Elbit Systems of America, LLC ("Elbit Systems of America"), was awarded an approximately $26 million contract from the United States Customs and Border Protection ("CBP") to install an Integrated Fixed Towers ("IFT") system in the U.S. Border Patrol Casa Grande Area of Responsibility ("AoR") in Arizona. The project will be performed over a one-year period. To date, Elbit Systems of America has been awarded a number of contracts from CBP to install IFT systems in numerous AoR's covering a total of approximately 200 miles of the Arizona–Mexico border.

So basically we have a Israelite businesses doing our national security. They also bought Harris Corp which includes L3. Check it out.

In 2016, Harris was named one of the top hundred federal contractors by Defense News.[7] In January 2015, Wired Magazine ranked Harris Corporation—tied with U.S. Marshals Service—as the number two threat to privacy and communications on the Internet.[8]

In 2019, Elbit Systems of America, the American division of the Israeli Elbit Systems, agreed to purchase Harris's night vision product line for $350 million, contingent on the completion of the merger with L3.[19][20]

I agree to some extent, with the general premise of strategic economic activity. It makes sense, especially if it weakens a communist government and global threat. The issue will be the productivity and willingness of these countries to become more high tech and competitive. China wants to win and they are developing an educated workforce to do so, with the help of too many Western businesses and consumers.

Thanks for the thoughtful and civil response.

That's where the GSE's would come in. We (both government and business) would have control over the process, with the goal of giving up (selling) control over time. We would be planting the seeds and watering the hell out of it, all as a literal investment.

Notice how they hedge their statement with "none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier"....even though those barriers amounted to nothing more that a single strand of barbed wire fence which were replaced by a 25' tall barrier. We've seen a 10 mile gain since April. And despite all of the resistance by Obama judges and Democrats, Trump is still building something.

I guess if you avoid some words in the statement it would appear like Trump isn't building anything....but as I've pointed out....that just isn't true.

The “wall” was another great example of specious campaign rhetoric. It’s SOP for all those running for office or running for re-election. The more ridiculous it sounds the more the voters tend to eat it up...

I admit to not really understanding political stuff, so I'm not really sure if people really believe this kind of thing, or if it's just fun to shout slogans in a group.

They do seem to get pretty cranky when you challenge them on it.
.

By the way, the reason this hasn't been spoken about much, is that I believe the Democrats are going to introduce this (along with others perceived failures) late in the game so that they know he cannot make up for it or address the issue before the election.

Trump is good at getting his point across and reading the average person, but the Democrats are a political machine. If he let's his guard down on any issue, they will take advantage of it, at one point or another, guaranteed.

Anyone suggesting a wall is ridiculous, hasn't seen the rest of the world. You already have walls and fences at various locations at your border and they are used all over the world between borders.

You need to keep the massive rush of illegal citizens out, and you aren't. What does this spell for your country long term when you have to pay for these dependents? If and when they get to vote, do you think they will vote primarily for Bernie or a center of the road capitalist? It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the dependence of socialism.

Pelosi paid Trump & McConnell lip service to get the House spending measure passed last Feb. Sure Pelosi included $1.7 bn for the border wall, but the DNC had already coordinated with democratic states AG's to file for courts injunctions to prevent construction. Democrtats do a REALLY good job of feigning ignorance regarding the DNC's obstructionist litigation ... and that feigned ignorance is REALLY easy to sell, because most often democratic ignorance is indeed genuine.

The "simple bigots" are motivated and organized to favor trade with Red China over Latin America?

Do you realize that a large portion of America, has been conditioned to hear accusations of racism, and to stop listening?

You are losing credibility with at least tens of millions of people, when you inject accusations of racism, into trade discussion.

I don't care. There will be people who are part of constructive conversation, and people who will not be.

I've given up on thinking anyone can innovate.
