Putin has many reasons. It is costing him a great deal, he is losing men left and right, and his economy is bad. All Putin needs is more to gain by settling than to continue fighting.

But peace is least of all in the hands of Putin or Trump--- it really comes down to Zelensky agreeing to the final terms.

Trump received four nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize as #45. He does care about the thousands of bodies piling up in this war which is something the Democrats don't seem to give a damn about. So is it him or the Democrats who don't give a rats ass about Ukraine. You call it manipulation. Most people call it negotiation. And you cannot negotiate with people unless you convince them the smartest thing to do is come to the negotiation table. And you have to make it worth a person's while to achieve agreements.
