‘Las Vegas shed thousands of jobs last month amid an ongoing tourism slump, according to a new report, which found Nevada’s labor market is “largely stationary.”

Employment in the Las Vegas area fell by 4,300 jobs from July to August, a drop of 0.4 percent, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Thursday, using seasonally adjusted data.

Statewide, employment levels are effectively unchanged from a year ago, the department found.

All told, the report shows “a labor market that is largely stationary,” David Schmidt, the department’s chief economist, said in a news release.

Nevada is by no means alone, as hiring has largely stalled around the country.’

It’s the same problem: Trump’s reckless, irresponsible trade wars are causing economic anxiety resulting in fewer people taking vacations – particularly expensive vacations to Las Vegas.

thousands of jobs?....not what they report on the news here,,,,but then it is a jones report....

Last time I went right on the strip....few years back. Where the fountains are. Cost thru the roof. Trapped by gridlock parking. Most of the day spent standing in line for $100 buffet lunch or breakfast, dinner? forget about it. Or hunting water unless you want to pay $8 12oz in the mini-bar. Leave your parking at your own peril around holidays. You may never get back in to hotel parking. Then what?

Very high min tables only for anything make fun gambling impossible for the riff-raff. Free drinks? lol! are you crazy. $25 maybe?

Um how is the job market in Nevada being the same as last year, a sign that trumps causing economic anxiety?

Liberal gambling laws nationwide, lotteries, Indian casinos and online betting have taken their toll on the gambling monopoly that NV had for so many years. I miss it but I'm not a gambler. Whenever I went, it was for the cheap lodging, food and free drinks. Another great deal falls by the wayside.

Jones has absolutely no idea why Vegas is going south

Oh, dear.

The Vegas casino empire can easily support an apparent lack of tourist interest but like 50's Hollywood they prefer to eat their own and blame it on republicans. No surprise here

Prove it.
dont have to.....the news out here says different.....very few have gone, those numbers are the amount of workers that they usually have working here....hardly anyone has been hired over the last year because of that slump.... local and federal data does not support this as a reason for local job market conditions. .....

So you can't prove it....Got it, you are just another loud mouth parroting what you are fed.

and you are just another person who lives far away from vegas and only know what you are fed about it.....

I guess the mass availability of online gambling has nothing to do with it.
