Um, yeah, we went from 400 Murders a year in 2010, when we still had our gun laws, to over 700 in 2016 after the gang-bangers could all send their old ladies down to the gun store and buy a bunch of guns.

Guns are pretty much banned in Chicago, so strict gun control doesn't work.

No, they aren't... In fact, fight after the McDonald Decision and after Illinois being the last state to outlaw conceal carry, the gun industry pretty much flooded the city with more guns, which is why the murder rate doubled in Chicago.

There were, of course, other factors, such as a changed in the power structure of street gangs (The big gangs had been rolled up by the feds, so smaller gangs emerged to fill the vacuum) and a complete breakdown of trust between the Chicago PD and the black community after the LaQuan McDonald Shooting.

First problem is that the inner city populace doesn't trust the police. The won't report crime, won't be witnesses and won't rat out the bad guys. This is the police's fault, with a number of high-profile police shootings, such as that of LaQuan McDonald.

The other part of the problem is that when the McDonald decision overturned Chicago's gun laws, the streets were flooded with new guns.

When he goes to trial, the FOP broke out all the stops to defend him. And after all that, they gave him the most minimal sentence they could, ignoring the recommendation of the jury.
