Baloney. No job is "secure", as any real worker in the US will tell you. Layoffs occur all the time and when they do, you spruce up your resume and go find another job. It's called self responsibility and not sucking the gubment teat like you are used to.‘Only a month into his 2nd term as president, Donald Trump is well underway toward destroying crucial rights of American workers.
Currently, the best known of these threatened rights is probably job security, for the sudden onset of Trump’s mass, indiscriminate firing of more than 200,000 federal govt. workers has sparked a furor. Employed by the Depts. of Education and Veterans Affairs, the Federal Aviation Admin., the Forest Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other vital U.S. agencies, these workers appear to have been simply tossed out of their jobs without honoring the legal requirement of due process, including performance-based evaluations.
Trump claimed that the mass firings were necessary to save money and make the government more efficient.
But the president of the American Federation of Government Employees, Everett Kelley, retorted that the firings were really “about power,” with Trump “gutting the federal government, silencing workers, and forcing agencies into submission to a radical agenda that prioritizes cronyism over competence.” Thus, if Project 2025 does serve as a guide to Trump admin. policies toward workers’ rights, we should expect Trump’s future implementation of Project 2025’s recommendations for remarkably severe federal government measures against workers and their unions.
In addition, on Jan. 31, Trump announced plans to nullify contracts recently negotiated and signed with the labor unions representing federal workers.
[…]
Indeed, by Jan. 2025, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) had 24 open investigations into labor law violations by these 3 firms, including alleged surveillance of employees at Twitter and interference with union organizing at Tesla. A day after the NLRB accused Musk’s SpaceX company of retaliating against workers who had dared to criticize his employment practices, SpaceX filed a lawsuit to have the NLRB, established by Congress in 1935, declared unconstitutional and terminated. Not surprisingly, Trump moved quickly to paralyze the activities of the NLRB, a federal agency created to guarantee American workers’ right to union representation.’

Trump Is Following the Project 2025 Playbook to Destroy Workers’ Rights | Common Dreams
The massive curbs on workers’ rights that have occurred during the first month of the Trump administration signal it’s likely that plenty more will follow during his tenure in office.www.commondreams.org
Destroying workers’ rights has long been a goal of Republicans, and Trump has made it a priority of his authoritarian agenda.
Lots of my friends are democrats including a couple of doctors, construction owners, and engineers. I suppose only jobs you deem "real" are real. PffftIn concept, why should government workers have more protection from termination than private sector workers? And why do Democrats conveniently forget previous Presidents who tried to do the same things that Trump is doing - Clinton, for example.
Democrats have been trying for decades to protect government workers from the normal, periodic housecleaning that every large institution requires in order to stay (or become) efficacious. They do this because the Federal workforce is overwhelmingly Democrat; they not only vote for Democrats, but they make a lot of donations to Democrats and the Party.
But Trump will prevail in the vast majority of these cases because they will be deemed a "reduction in force," which requires no "cause" to justify a termination. If you terminate the position, the person is not protected from the RIF.
One thing that becomes more and more clear as the protests, demonstrations, and complaining go on: most Democrats have never even had a real job. This sort of thing happens all the time in the private sector. People deal with it and move on. Democrats don't understand or accept this fact of life that all working Americans live with every day of their working lives.
There are many jobs in the Federal Government that by comparison to the private sector job, there was no possibility of getting fired and the accountability factor leaned cushy.again you said NO possibility of getting fired....and it aint a cushy job....
This is what this foreigner thinks about Americans in general. Not just Republicans, but Democrats as well. The only reason she thinks she can get away with saying this out loud is because she has the support of other Somalis that Obama brought to America to fill her district with new voters:

Labor built this nation. Time to increase overtime pay also.
Again, compare to the private sector..I’ve lived in the Washington DC Area my whole life and the stereotype fits when compared to the private sector. The American Taxpayer demands more accountability.
yep not everyone sits around all day doing nothing....I will say that I also have come across some incredible hard-working professionals working to serve the American People. It’s these Federal professionals I feel for.
