The article says that the children are being reunited with parents already in the US, which leads one to believe their "families" were already hereAs a matter of fact I did question how it came that these children are going to be reunited with their families. I researched the subject and here is what I found. I created no mess.
Many Afghan children were left behind in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover in 2021. These children are among the most vulnerable groups in Afghanistan, and are in need of humanitarian support.
What happened to Afghan children left behind?
- Evacuated without parents
Some children were evacuated to the United States without their parents.
- Paroled into the United States
Some children were paroled into the United States as part of Operation Allies Welcome.
- Detained in the United States
Some children were detained in the United States while the State Department worked to obtain travel documents for their parents.
- Placed in foster care
Some children were placed in foster care while they waited for their families to be reunited.

I'm really not that interested in it, if they are reunited with family who also arrived here from Afghanistan, that's fine, it just seems odd that they didn't come together...
