Trump calls for $1.5 trillion military budget

Trump is proposing nearly doubling the US military budget from $850B to $1.5 Trillion. This is while we are arguably proving that outspending your opponent does not guarantee victory.

Iran spent under $25B. I’m not getting into a debate about whose winning but it’s crystal clear that Irans multiple decade planning to defeat a specific enemy has our hands full

Instead of rewarding the MIC, we should have a real discussion about America First military priorities

We should have a discussion about cost effective power projection

We should review our strategies and have a real discussion on cooperation over confrontation
Supposedly, NATO is spending more so we should be spending less.
We already spend 40 cents of every defense dollar in the world.

Trump has no problem creating debt someone else has to pay for.

I have no problem with spending $1.5Trillion as long as we don't have to borrow it.

What good will come of it? We do not get a vote in what the military does.

You honestly believe our arms sale generate in excess of $850B of economic activity? What percentage of that guaranteed spent $850 wind up actually helping?

Alternatively, releasing the military space age energy technologies would generate Trillions but would put oil and gas companies virtually out of existence before long
  • Total Defense Activity: The U.S. Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry generated $995 billion in total business activity in 2024, including $556 billion in direct output and $439 billion in supply chain contributions.
  • Arms Sales Volume (FY2025): The United States recorded a record-setting $331.18 billion in total arms sales (foreign military sales and direct commercial sales) in fiscal year 2025, which includes $104.38 billion in government-to-government transfers and $226.8 billion in direct commercial sales.

We already spend more than the next eight countries combined
I'm going test your braincells, why do you think that is?

(I have a sneaky feeling that you might need help so look into GDP and percentages).

There are 23 countries that spend a larger percentage of their GDP on their military than the US.

What is the threat?

The US has not been invaded in over 200 years. we have northern and southern neighbors who are not threats.
We are surrounded by two massive oceans making invasion impossible.

We have such a massive military because we insist on being the worlds policemen and want to extend our military around the world.
About 15 million illegals invaded during Biden.

All those people picking our crops, mowing our lawns, making our beds
