Group health insurance... pensions to help with retirement... but there will be non union jobs created too... some parts manufacturers are non union shops... and some are contracted till the model changes... all kinds of jobs and small businesses will also be needed too... union employees hire home improvement professionals rather than go the DYI route for example.... they buy new cars... ect ect...

I think the article headline is misleading. The U.S. government will not be manufacturing these mini cars and therefore neither President Trump nor congress has power to order them made. What he can and apparently will do, even according to your article, is order removal of unnecessary rules and regs that made these mini cars less practical or in some cases illegal. The article also quotes the Ford CEO as being excited about the possibilities in the small car market.

Whether the American public will latch onto them as a desirable form of transportation remains to be seen. If it does it opens up a whole new market. If it doesn't. oh well. Nothing gained but nothing lost either. Auto makers simply will not build them for an American market.

All those regulations did was add unnecessary, expensive and prone to fail technology costing thousands to the consumers.
Smaller turbo charged engines generate far more heat, have far more complications and drive combustion chamber pressure up.
A blown head gasket or failed turbo is notoriously expensive to fix.
8-10 speed transmissions are failing along all brands.
Buying any vehicle post Covid is a literal crap shoot as all brands are suffering mechanical, software and safety recalls due to overcomplication for a measly couple miles per gallon.
It makes no environmental sense to build a TT6 truck that fails and bricks by 150,000 miles when its previous generation naturally aspirated V8 could do 500,000. Toyota is finding that out the hard way.
