I'm not a Trump supporter, but I love the idea of ending the drug cartels. Regardless of how they do it. The cartels are already sending out warnings to the US government about retaliations.
I hope they want a war, because we have the ability to take out enough of the cartels that they'll stop doing business with the US. (for the most part)

CIA needs to win but the push to a paramilitary organization is real. It is not the best outcome except in the most extreme of circumstances.

The 1980s were the best in spy vs spy. It really had the imagination working about who was winning and the dangers were real for all of mankind.

I imagine too many Western agencies overlook some of the best minds in order to choose someone who they can mold and control to a fault, in a rigid manner.

Molding is fine but controlling can decimate their talent options. Discipline should come from principle not strictly indoctrination.
